Rabies Update: 1 confirmed positive rabies test result in the City for the period with
no human or animal exposure. As the LRCA I have audited the previous 10 years of
lab testing results and there is a GIS Map being built that can filter by result, species,
and date. The current year's positive results are being audited and uploaded into this
calendar year's GIS Map in a manner consistent with policies.
Volunteer Program: Volunteer hours for the period totaled 730.41 between shelter
and events.
Staffing: We have two candidates currently in backgrounds to fill the remaining open
ACO positions. Introduction of part time veterinarian Dr Elisabeth Bachynsky to
Advisory Committee.
Training: 1 ACO currently in Phase 3, 2 ACO simultaneously in Phase 4 Training.
Social Media: Our Facebook page is now up to 19,889 followers. In the last 28 days,
the shelter's page had 1,529,999 views, 40,406 content interactions, and a reach of
335,829.
Foster Program: We currently have 2 dogs in Foster at Pearland Barkway, 1 dog in
Foster to adopt, 1 dog in Foster to socialize, 1 cat in Foster to socialize with potential
to adopt, and 10 bottle baby kittens with trained Fosters.
Events: The Galveston Island Humane Society event, "The Krewe of Barkus& Meoux
Parade in March," was a great success and gained the shelter additional exposure.
We have partnered with the Sugarland Space Cowboys to attend their "Waggin
Wednesdays" home games where we are the only shelter at the game and have a
booth with staff and adoptable animals present. They also feature us in stadium
announcements, the jumbotron screen, and on their social media. We are registered
to attend the Houston World Series of Dogs Show at NRG in July with a booth and
staff."
Motion to adjourn by Member Stroud, seconded by Member Craft at 5:52
