Pearland senior defensive end Amari Wilks tackles Dickinson running back Malachi Gamble on Friday night. Wilks and the de- fensive unit have been a force to be reckoned with in 2025, holding multiple opponents to their lowest points total of the season, including the high-powered offense of the Dickinson Gators on Friday night’s area round that ended with a loss 28-21. Dickin- son’s previous low this season was 34 points in a win over Katy in week one. The Gators will now move on to face Strake Jesuit in round three, as Pearland will retool for 2026 after finishing 2025 with an 11-1 record and the first outright district championship for Pearland head coach BJ Gotte. PHOTO BY LLOYD HENDRICKS Shadow Creek saw its playoff run crushed by the C.E. King Panthers 51-6 Friday night at Sheldon ISD’s Panther Stadium. Shadow Creek received the opening kickoff and moved downfield with conviction before the drive stalled. The Sharks attempted a field goal, but the Panthers penetrated the line and blocked the kick, setting up C.E. King for their first touchdown of the night. After a 45-minute lightning delay, the game resumed. The Panthers dominated play the remainder of the evening, rushing through the Shark defense at will, while their defense allowed little offense by Shadow Creek. The Sharks’ lone score came on a Bryce Cole- man reception in the end zone in the 3rd quarter. The Panthers held Shadow Creek’s Tavis Coleman to just 15/31 completions for 147 yards, 1 touchdown, and a pick 6. The Sharks end their season at 8-4, while C.E. King, 10-2, advances to play Fulshear’s Jordan Warriors in the next round of the playoffs.
