HomeMy WebLinkAbout1995-03-02 ELECTRICAL BOARD MEETING MINUTESMINUTES - SPECIAL MEETING OF THE ELECTRICAL BOARD OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, HELD ON THURSDAY, MARCH 2,1995, AT 6:00 PM, IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS, CITY HALL, 3519 LIBERTY DRIVE, PEARLAND, TEXAS The meeting was called to order at 6:14 PM with the following present: Board Chairman Robert Kettle Board Member Chris Brooks Board Member Charles Michna Fire Marshal Larry Steed Chief Building Official Don Guynes APPROVAL OF MINUTES No minutes were available from previous meeting for approval. NEW BUSINESS A. CONSIDERATION AND POSSIBLE ACTION - V95-6, REQUEST OF RICHARD SIMPSON, OWNER, FOR A VARIANCE FROM SECTION 9-157 (A) REQUIRING CONDUIT IN ON - PREMISE SECURITY APARTMENT BEING BUILT AT 5804 W. BROADWAY Richard Simpson and Skip Adams were present for the meeting. Skip Adams explained what was being built and why they thought they should not be required to wire the security apartment in conduit. A lengthy discussion ensued regarding the layout of the storage building and security apartment. Board Chairman Robert Kettle stated that the Board recommends that they be required to follow the City of Pearland Electrical Ordinance which requires conduit on commercial buildings. Passed 3 to 0. B. CONSIDERATION AND POSSIBLE ACTION - TO AMEND SECTION 9-55 OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND ELECTRICAL ORDINANCE TO REFLECT NEW PROCEDURES FOR ELECTRICAL LICENSE RENEWAL A lengthy discussion ensued regarding the renewal process for Pearland as opposed to that of surrounding cities. 1 Board Chairman Robert Kettle made a motion that the thirty (30) day grace period remain. After January 31, the licensee will pay one and a half tunes (1 1/2 x) the regular fee. After the last day of February, the licensee must retake the SBCCI test and reapply for a City of Pearland license. Board Member Charles Michna seconded the motion. Motion passed 3 to 0. C. CONSIDERATION AND POSSIBLE ACTION - TO AMEND SECTION 9-56 OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND ELECTRICAL ORDINANCE TO REFLECT THE APPROPRIATE FEES FOR AN INACTIVE MASTER LICENSE Chief Building Official Don Guynes explained that this section of the ordinance needs to be amended to reflect the current fees. Board Chairman Robert Kettle made a motion to amend Section 9-56 to reflect twenty-five dollar ($25.00) fee for inactive license instead of five dollar fee ($5.00). Board Member Charles Michna seconded the motion. Motion passed 3 to 0. ADJOURNMENT The meeting adjourned at 6:47 PM.
