NEW BUSINESS
V91-50, REQUEST FOR A VARIANCE TO ALLOW BREAKER BOX TO REMAIN IN
CLOSET BY T.J. CLEBOSKI, OWNER, ON PROPERTY LOCATED AT 3105
NOTTINGHAM, PEARLAND, TEXAS.
Mr. Cleboski, owner, explained to the Board that the breaker box
is located in a closet/dressing room. He displayed pictures
depicting the box and the size of the room which is 7' x 9'.
Mr. Cleboski explained that in the initial inspection, the in-
spector approved the breaker box in the dressing room. However
on the final inspection it was "red tagged". He stated if this
was pointed out to him in the initial inspection he would have
moved it in order to be in compliance. At this point, he said it
would be very costly to have it moved and rewired.
He also said that his next door neighbor has his breaker box
located in the closet/dressing area which was never questioned.
Don Guynes, representative for the Fire Marshall, conveyed to the
Board that because of the layout of the room, the Fire Department
did not consider this a hazard. Mr. Guynes also suggested if
this variance is approved that a hold harmless agreement between
the City and Mr. Cleboski be drawn up.
The Board determined that the main is on the outside of the
house. The breaker box has a closed door and inside cover with
no exposed parts.
After discussion and review of the photos, the Board agreed to
approve the request contingent upon a waiver and hold harmless
agreement be signed. Board member Kettle added that the City
Attorney would have to decide whether this Board has the power to
grant the request.

INFORMAL DISCUSSION - RECIPROCATION OF THE ELECTRICIANS TEST
Don Guynes asked the Board if they were interested in possibly
reciprocating the test. He conveyed that San Jacinto College
offers the test which is written by the Southern Standard Build-
ing Code.
Don suggested if they were interested in reciprocating, he would
obtain a copy of the electrical ordinance from surrounding cities
to use as a guide to amend the City of Pearland's.
After the information is gathered, Don will present it to the
Board. If all members are in agreement to reciprocate, he will
take the necessary steps to get it implemented.
