REPORTER NEWS, OCTOBER 1, 2025 3Dawson outlasts Shadow Creek 30-27 in double overtime
By Michael McManus
The Dawson Eagles edged Shadow Creek’s Sharks 30-27 in a two-overtime defensive thriller. Dawson dominated the Sharks with a stout defense that de-nied nearly half of Sharks’ QB Tavis Coleman’s pass-es, coupled with a strong running game that Shadow Creek had trouble stopping in the first half.Shadow Creek came out of halftime with a renewed defensive spirit and held the Eagles scoreless in the second half, while the Shark’s Aden Starling scored on a pass from Coleman to tie the game at 20 in the third quarter. That score would hold through the end of regulation. In the first overtime period, Dawson’s Corey Brown scored to put the Eagles up 27-20. Brown was a dou-ble threat for the Eagles, playing every snap on both sides of the ball. He racked up 4 tackles, broke up 3 passes, rushed for 46 yards and 1 touchdown, and had 4 receptions for 58 yards. Shadow Creek’s Triston Willis quickly countered by grinding and diving for a touchdown to tie the score and end the first overtime period. The Sharks’ attempt to score in the second overtime period was thwarted by Dawson’s strong defense, and when the Eagles took over, kicker Noah Abela con-nected on a 20-yard field goal to win the game for Dawson. Abela has had a strong season so far, con-necting on 11/14 FGs through 5 games so far.Tavis Coleman was 17/31 for 234 passing yards for the Sharks, hitting his main target Chris Stewart for 9 catches for 164 yards. Jacier Pace led Shadow Creek’s rushing game with 89 yards on 12 carries. The Sharks continue to suffer from untimely and costly penalties that stall scoring drives, and their kicking game con-tinues its season-long woes, connecting on only 1 of 3 PATs in the game.Shadow Creek heads to Dobie this Thursday Oc-tober 2nd, while Dawson heads to Pearland for the PearBowl on Friday October 3rd at The Rig.

Restaurant
Weeks under
way
by Nicole Bradford
Nineteen local restaurants specializing in every-thing from crawfish creations to fusion are offer-ing curated menus at a fixed price during Pearland Restaurant Weeks, a fundraiser for the Pearland Neighborhood Center running through Oct. 31. Restaurant Weeks was created to both serve as a PNC fundraiser while encouraging diners to try restaurants they’ve not visited before. Through the program, full meals with multiple courses are offered at fixed prices: $20 for breakfast or lunch and $35 for dinner. The price includes combinations of an ap-petizer, entree, sides and dessert, with a portion of the proceeds donated to the Neighborhood Center. At locations such as Moreno’s Mexican Restaurant, the dinner option is designed for two. Participating locations are: Barcenas Mexican Grill, Bayou Grill, Big Horn BBQ, Boiling Dragon, Central Texas Barbecue, Crawfish Cafe, Doglegs Golf Lounge, El Pollo Loco, Four Friends Tea Room, Iguanas Ranas, Jamburritos Cajun Grille, Magnolia Cajun Comfort, Mikki’s Cafe, Moreno’s, Pho Prime, Remton, Rocko’s Dive Bar & Texas Tavern, Saloon Door West and Thai Cottage. Full menus for each site are posted at visitpearland.com/restaurantweeks/
