R2003-0003 01-13-03 RESOLUTION NO. R2003-3 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE ACQUISITION OF RIGHT- OF-WAY FOR PEARLAND PARKWAY. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS: Section 1. That the purchase certain right-of-way for the extension of Pearland Parkway, a copy of which is attached hereto, is hereby authorized and approved. Section 2. That the City Manager or his designee is hereby authorized to execute any documents necessary to complete the acquisition of certain right-of-way for Pearland Parkway. I have also received the legal description and cost information provided by Aaron McGuire. Purchase of the second '/: right of way would be consistent with the City's practices. However, based on the cost information provided, it appears the price proposed bs the seller is approximately $34,708 per acre. This amount is more than twice the amount that we have recently agreed to pay for a similar right of way parcel. At this time, the City would not be interested in acquiring the second '/: right of way at the stated price. Regarding the related issue of the information provided by your attorney, the City Attorney is reviewing that case and \kill be responding soon. After that point we are willing to continue discussions on how to address all of the issues surrounding the extension of Pearland Parkway adjacent to Towne Lake. This price is generally consistent with other i ight of way parcels we have recently purchased.
