1975-09-15 CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES15 MINUTES OF A SPECIAL"MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, HELD ON SEPTEMBER 15, 1975, AT 7:32 P.M. IN THE CITY HALL, 2335 N. TEXAS AVENUE, PEARLAND, TEXAS. The meeting was called to order with the following present: Mayor Pro Tem Councilman Councilman Councilman Councilman City Manager City Attorney City Secretary Absent: Mayor Carlton McComb. INVOCATION AND PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Cecil W. Griffin Harry Farley Gene E. Sanders Tom Reid Benny J. Frank William E. Wolff Bobby J. Williams Dorothy L. Cook The invocation was given by Councilman Reid. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Councilman Sanders. PROCLAMATION: Mayor Pro Tem Griffin presented a Proclamation to J. C. Nichols, Jr. proclaiming the week of September 22nd through September 26th as Community Education Week in Pearland. PURPOSE OF THE MEETING: OPENING AND AWARD OF BID NO. 75-7, ASPHALT SURFACING (TWO COURSE SURFACE TREATMENT TYPE) FOR APPROXIMATELY 15,000 LINEAR FEET OF ROADWAYS. One bid received and opened as follows: Vendor - BROWN & ROOT, INC. (1) Finish Base with use of Grid Roller $0.15 Sq. yd.; (2) Finish Base with use of Pneumatic Roller $0.10 Sq. yd.; (3) Two Course Surface Treatment without Prime, and furnishing Asphalt only (coverstone to be furnished by City) $0.50 Sq. yd. Prices are subject to escalation due to increases in price of asphalt and/or freight. It was moved by Councilman Sanders, seconded by Councilman Farley that the Bid by Brown & Root, Inc. be accepted into the records of the City. Motion passed 5 to 0. MEETING RECESSED: 7:40 P.M. - RECONVENED 7:45 P.M. 16 It was moved by Councilman Frank, seconded by Councilman Reid that Brown & Root, Inc. be awarded the contract for Bid No. 75-7 for the asphalt surfacing of approximately 15,000 linear feet of streets as per proposal of September 11, 1975, as follows: (1) Finish Base with use of Grid Roller $0.15 Sq. yd.; (2) Finish Base with use of Pneumatic Roller $.10 Sq. yd.; (3) Two Course Surface Treatment without Prime, and furnishing Asphalt only (coverstone to be furnished by the City) Sq. Yd. $0.50 Also, that the Mayor be authorized to execute the contract. Motion passed 5 to 0. ADJOURN: Meeting adjourned 7:50 P.M.
