MINUTES OF THE MONTHLY MEETING OF THE PEARLAND PARKS, RECREATION, AND
BEAUTIFICATION BOARD HELD SATURDAY, MARCH 30, 1985 AT THE OFFICE OF
THE PARKS AND RECREATION DIRECTOR, PEARLAND COMMUNITY CENTER, 3523
LIBERTY DRIVE, PEARLAND, TEXAS
The meeting was called to order by Chairman George Triebel , Jr.
i.. ith the following Present : Board Members Tootle McComb, Bob Pond,
Claude Stegall , Inez Farmer, and James SkiPPer; Director Barry
Lastik ; and Assistant City Manager, Gary Jackson.
The minutes of the Previous meeting were aPProved as Printed on
the motion of Inez Farmer, seconded by Bob Pond.
Members of the Pearland Community Events Organization exPlained
the PurPoses of the organization And Plans for Founder's Day. Bob
Pond moved to allow the organization to use Independence Park for
Founder's Day Celebration without fees and to allow them to charge
for entry into the Park . Claude Stegall seconded the motion. The
motion Passed.
The Director's Printed Progress rePorts were reviewed.
The Board considered the Directors's ProPosed changes in fees
for the Summer Playground Program and for the Swimming Pool . Claude
Stegall moved to accePt the changes as Printed in the Board members
Packets. Fob Pond seconded the motion. The motion carried.
Director Barry Lastik discussed the building cleaning dePosit
and his rccomended changes. Jim SkiPPer moved to increase the
cleaning dePosit for -events serving alcoholic beverages to $200. One
half of the dePosit is to be refunded if the rental grouP gives
advance notice that they will not be cleaning the building; the
entire amount will be refunded if the group gives advance notice and
- cleans the building ProPerly . Inez Farmer seconded the motion. The
motion Passed.
Inez Farmer moved to grant the request of the Volunteer Fire
DeP artment to sell beer at the Bar-B-Que they will hold at the Park
Pavilion. Jim SkiPPer seconded the motion. The motion Passed.
Jim SkiPPer moved to grant the request of the League of Women
Voters for waiver of fees for a meeting room. Claude Stegall seconded
the motion. The motion Passed.
Board members were asked to be at IndePend€>nce Park by 9 : 00 on
APril 6th to helP with the Easter Egg Hunt.
Barry Lastik was off i c i a.lI P resented as the new City Director of
Parks and Recreation with theongratulations of the Board. He is
recommending that Susan Sherouse be Promoted to his Administrative
Assistant for Recreation.
Claude Stegall moved to adjourn. Bob Pond seconded the motion
and the meeting adjourned.'
