1977-10-03 CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES110 MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, HELD ON OCTOBER 3, 1977, AT 7:30 P.M., IN THE CITY HALL 2335 N. TEXAS AVENUE, PEARLAND, TEXAS. The meeting was called to order with the following present: Mayor Carlton McComb Councilman Dennis Frauenberger Councilman Terry Gray Councilman Tom Reid Councilman Morris S. Wilson City Manager William E. Wolff City Secretary Dorothy L. Cook Absent from the meeting: Councilman Harry Farley and City Attorney Bobby Williams. BID OPENING - BID NO. Motion passed 4 to 0. CHANGE IN REGULAR MEETING DATE OCTOBER 24. 1977 DUE TO VETERAN'S DAY HOLIDAY: It was moved by Councilman Wilson, seconded by Councilman Gray that the regularly scheduled meeting date of the City Council on October 24, 1977 be changed to October 25, 1977. This change due to Veteran's Day Holiday. Motion passed 4 to 0. COMPUTER: City Manager Wolff advised the City Council that he had appointed Jim DeShazer to serve on a committee to investigate the possibility of joining Alvin in joint computer operation, and he asked Mr. DeShazer to advise the Council of his findings. Mr. DeShazer reported to the City Council on this possible joint participation with the City of Alvin in operating a computer. He advised that Pearland would POW have remote terminals giving us the capabilities of performing our computer functions. The approximate cost would be $1,757.00 per month as Pearland's share. He reported that for the first 10 months of the 1976-1977 Budget the cost to the City was $16,394.03 for contractural computer services. The recommendation of the Pearland committee was to obtain the computer from NCR as being the best and most economical. Mr. DeShazer requested that the City Council take some action so that the City Council of Alvin will have some indication of Pearland's intention by October 6, 1977, the meeting date of the Alvin City Council. It was moved by Councilman Gray, seconded by Councilman Frauenberger that the City of Pearland join in a contract with the vendor that Alvin chooses for its computer processing. Motion passed 4 to 0. MEETING RECESSED AT 8:00 P.M. - RECONVENED AT 8:05 P.M. Mayor McComb requested that Bid No. B77-14, Park Roads be placed on the agenda r-� of the next regular meeting.
