COMPUTER:
City Manager Wolff advised the City Council that he had appointed Jim DeShazer
to serve on a committee to investigate the possibility of joining Alvin in joint
computer operation, and he asked Mr. DeShazer to advise the Council of his findings.
Mr. DeShazer reported to the City Council on this possible joint participation
with the City of Alvin in operating a computer. He advised that Pearland would
POW have remote terminals giving us the capabilities of performing our computer functions.
The approximate cost would be $1,757.00 per month as Pearland's share. He
reported that for the first 10 months of the 1976-1977 Budget the cost to the
City was $16,394.03 for contractural computer services. The recommendation of
the Pearland committee was to obtain the computer from NCR as being the best and
most economical.
Mr. DeShazer requested that the City Council take some action so that the City
Council of Alvin will have some indication of Pearland's intention by October
6, 1977, the meeting date of the Alvin City Council.
It was moved by Councilman Gray, seconded by Councilman Frauenberger that the
City of Pearland join in a contract with the vendor that Alvin chooses for its
