Adopt-A-Grant program funds over $510,000 in teacher grants
The Friendswood Education Foun-dation (FEF) has made a monumental investment in the future of education within the Friendswood Independent School District by awarding $510,731 in teacher grants. The grants were dis-tributed through the Foundation's cel-ebrated annual FISD Adopt-A-Grant program, culminating in a festive "SurPrize Patrol" event last Friday. The FEF, under the leadership of Executive Director Ashley Adair, managed to fund 675 grants across the district, a feat that Adair enthusiasti-cally summarized: "A picture is worth a thousand words or in this case...over $500,000!!!"The funding for these grants came from a variety of heartfelt community contributions, including over $85,000 from campus Parent-Teacher Organi-
zations (PTOs) and more than $62,000 from community donors. These funds will directly support innovative proj-ects and essential educational tools that enhance the learning experience for students across the district.Executive Director Ashley Adair expressed her gratitude to all involved in making the program a success, stat-ing, "Special thanks to all of our Grant Writers, Grant Champions, Campus and District Purchasers, and Approv-ers. FEF's Adopt-A-Grant campaign would not be possible without each of these individuals!"The Adopt-A-Grant program is a cornerstone of the FEF's efforts to en-courage creative and effective teach-ing practices. It enables teachers to conceive and implement projects that go beyond the district's standard bud-
get constraints, fostering an environ-ment where educational innovation can flourish. The excitement of the "SurPrize Patrol" event, where foundation mem-bers visited schools to announce the grants, was palpable, bringing smiles and sometimes tears of joy to the dedicated educators whose projects received funding. This annual event not only provides necessary resources to teachers but also demonstrates the community's profound commitment to supporting educators and enriching the learning experience for every stu-dent in FISD.As Friendswood ISD faces budget constraints, the Adopt-A-Grant pro-gram shows community support for the district is stronger than ever.
