1978-09-19 CITY COUNCIL PUBLIC HEARING MEETING MINUTES14 MINUTES OF A PUBLIC HEARING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, HELD ON SEPTEMBER 191 1978, AT 7:30 P.M. IN THE CITY HALL, 2335 N. TEXAS AVENUE, PEARLAND, TEXAS. The Public Hearing was called to order with the following present: Mayor Tom Reid Councilman Harry Farley Councilman Dennis Frauenberger Councilwoman Fran Coppinger -�-s Councilman Morris Wilson City Manager William E. Wolff City Attorney Bobby J. Williams City Secretary Dorothy L. Cook Absent from the meeting: Councilman Carlton McComb Others present: Otto Schroeder, Houston Lighting & Power Company Representative and Curtis DuPriest. PURPOSE OF THE MEETING: 1. Houston Lighting $ Power Company's request for rate increase. PERSONS WISHING TO SPEAK FOR THE PROPOSED RATE INCREASE: Mr. Otto Schroeder, District Manager for the Houston Lighting & Power Company advised that his company had filed with the City on July 15, 1978, the rate package for the proposed increase. He advised that within this package is pertinent information regarding this requested increase. PERSONS WISHING TO SPEAK AGAINST THE PROPOSED RATE INCREASE: None QUESTION AND ANSWER PERIOD: City Manager Wolff advised that our special legla counsel has advised that the Public Utility Commission is presently hearing the case by Houston Lighting & Power Company filed on service outside the City limits, and he feels that this particular case under consideration by the Commission will have a definite bearing on those within the cities. He advised and recommends that any action by the City Council be deferred until after there is an outcome by the Utility Commission. RECESS: Mayor Reid announced that the Hearing was recessed for further investigation and study on the request by Houston Lighting & Power Company for a rate increase. MEETING RECESSED AT 7:10 P.M.
