1980-05-15 CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING MINUTESMINUTES OF THE SPECIAL EMERGENCY MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS WHICH WAS HELD ON MAY 15, 1980, AT 7:30 P. M. IN THE CITY HALL, 2335 N. TEXAS AVENUE, PEARLAND, TEXAS FOR THE CANVASSING OF THE VOTES FOR THE RUN-OFF ELECTION FOR CITY OFFICERS OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS: The meeting was called to order with the following present: Mayor Tom Reid .� Councilman Dennis Frauenberger Councilman Charles R. Mack Councilwoman Fran Coppinger Councilman Carlton McComb Councilman Morris S. Wilson City Manager William E. Wolff City Attorney Bobby J. Williams Assistant City Secretary Barbara J. Lenamon Councilman Elect Al Lentz Councilman Elect Terry Gray RESOLUTION NO. R80-12, A RESOLUTION AND ORDER DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE CITY OFFICERS' RUN-OFF ELECTION HELD ON MAY 10, 1980: Mayor Reid read the Resolution No. R80-12 into the records as follows: RESOLUTION NO. R80-12 There came on to be considered the returns of an election held on the i 10th day of May, 1980, for the purpose of electing the hereinafter named officials, and it appearing from said returns, duly and legally made, that there were cast at said election 1475 valid and legal votes; that each of the candidates in said election received the following votes: COUNCILMAN, POSITION 1: NAME OF CANDIDATE TOTAL NUMBER OF RECOUNT VOTES RECEIVED Al Lentz 735 Dennis Frauenberger 731 COUNCILMAN, POSITION 5. NAME OF CANDIDATE TOTAL NUMBER OF VOTES RECEIVED Terry Gray 832 Morris S. Wilson 626 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS: That said election was duly called; that notice of said election was given in accordance with law, and that said election was held in accordance with law, and that Al Lentz was duly elected Councilman, Position 1 of the said City at said election and Terry Gray was duly elected Councilman, Posi- tion 5 at said election, and said above named parties are hereby declared duly elected to said respective offices, subject to the taking of their oaths and filing bond as provided by the law's of the State of Texas. It is further found and determined that in accordance with the order of this governing body the Secretary posted written notice of the date, place and subject of this special emergency meeting on the bulletin board located in the City Hall, a place convenient and readily accessible to the general public, and said notice having been so posted and remaining posted continuously 27 for at least 2 hours preceding the scheduled time of said meeting. A copy of the return of said posting shall be attached to the minutes of this meeting and shall be made a part thereof for all intents and purposes. Wilson, seconded by Councilman Dennis Frauenberger that the said Resolution No. R80-12 be passed and approved on the first and only reading. Voting "Aye": Councilman Wilson, Councilman McComb, Councilman Frauenberger, Councilman Mack and Councilwoman Coppinger. Voting "No ": None Motion passed 5 to 0. Mayor Reid issued Certificates of Election, and administered the oath of Office to Councilman Al Lentz and Councilman Terry Gray.
