1980-03-17 CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING MINUTESfl MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, HELD ON MARCH 17, 1980, AT 7:30 P.M. IN THE CITY HALL, 2335 N. TEXAS 'AVENUE, PEARLAND, TEXAS. The meeting was called to order with the following present: Mayor Tom Reid Councilman Dennis Frauenberger Councilman Charles R. Mack Councilwoman Fran Coppinger Councilman Morris S. Wilson City Manager William E. Wolff . City Attorney Bobby J. Williams City Secretary Dorothy Cook PURPOSE OF THE MEETING: Public Hearing on the request of Entex, Inc. to change large volume customer rates in the City of Pearland. PERSONS WISHING TO SPEAK FOR THE PROPOSED REQUEST: Mr. Howard E. Bell, Vice President and Texas Coast Division Manager of Entex, Inc. appeared before the City Council. He advised that approximately 10 large volume customers would be affected by this requested increase and this adjustment would not affect the residential and small commercial rate schedules. PERSONS WISHING TO SPEAK AGAINST THE PROPOSED REQUEST: None QUESTON AND ANSWER PERIOD: Councilman Wilson asked Mr. Bell to name the companies involved in this rate change. Mr. Bell advised that the American Rice Growers Association, Silver Maples, Salem who Village, Houston Pipe Line Company, Gaido Lingle Company and Maloney Crawford and two schools would be affected by this change. --� City Attorney Bobby Williams advised that this public hearing was necessary to comply with the provisions of the Charter and that Ordiance No. 330, passed by the City Council on June 28, 1976 provided that rates for consumers using more than 150,000 cubic feet in any month and that the rate schedule for the large volume customers could be adjusted or superseded at the discretion of Entex.
