A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT
BY AND BETWEEN THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD., TEXAS, AND THE CITY
OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, APPORTIONING THE OVERLAPPING EXTRATERRI-
TORIAL JURISDICTIONS OF SUCH CITIES AND RELEASING CERTAIN
EXTRATERRITORIAL JURISDICTION OF EACH CITY, ONE TO THE OTHER.
WHEREAS, the City Council deems it desirable and appropriate
to apportion the overlapping extraterritorial jurisdictions of the cities
of Friendswood and Pearland and to release certain extraterritorial
jurisdiction of each city, one to the other for the convenience of the
City of Friendswood, to make the future expansion of municipal services
susceptible of comprehensive planning and to facilitate the planning of.
future extensions of the boundaries of the City of Friendswood; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, STATE OF
TEXAS:
Section 1. That the Mayor be, and he is hereby, authorized to
execute for and in behalf of the City of Friendswood an agreement by and
between the City of Friendswood and the City of Pearland, apportioning
the overlapping extraterritorial jurisdictions of such Cities and releasing.
certain extraterritorial jurisdictions of each City, one to the other.
A copy of such agreement is attached hereto and made a part hereof for
all purposes.

AGREEMENT
This agreement is made and entered into this
20 day of October, 1975, by and between the City of
Friendswood, Galveston County, Texas, a municipal corporation,
duly organized and existing under the laws of the State of
Texas and the City of Pearland, Brazoria and Harris Counties,
Texas, a municipal corporation, duly organized and existing
under the laws of the State of Texas.
Upon the terms and conditions set forth in this
agreement, the City of Friendswood and the City of Pearland
hereby agree that it is the mutual desire and intent of
the governing bodies of both Cities, pursuant to Article
970a, V. T. C. S., to apportion the overlapping extra-
territorial jurisdictions of the Cities of Friendswood
and Pearland for the mutual convenience of such Cities,.
to make the future expansion of municipal services suscep-
tible of comprehensive planning, and to facilitate the
planning of future extensions of the boundaries of both
such Cities and, therefore, hereby agree as follows
I.
The parties agree that the extraterritorial
jurisdictions, as that term is defined in the Municipal
Annexation Act, of the Cities of Friendswood and Pearland
overlap in an area within Harris County, Texas, generally
between the present corporate limits of both Cities; and.
of -way. It is, therefore, deemed in the best interest
of both the City of Friendswood and the City of Pearland
that the extraterritorial jurisdictions of such Cities,
provided for in Article 970a, V. T. C. S., shall hereby
be mutually apportioned by and between the two Cities
along the line described in Section II of this agreement.
II.
The line dividing the extraterritorial
jurisdiction of the City of Friendswood from the extra-
territorial jurisdiction of the City of Pearland is hereby
described as follows:
BEGINNING at the intersection
of the center line of Clear Creek and
a line that is 120 feet at right angles
to the southeast of and parallel to the
northwesterly line of the Perry and Austin
League Abstract No. 55;
THENCE, in a northeasterly direction
along a line that is 120 feet at right
angles to the southeast of and parallel
to the northwesterly line of the Perry
and Austin League,a distance of 7,200
feet more or less until such line inter-
sects with the southwesterly line of
Beamer Road (formerly known as Choate
Road,) based on 60 feet in width.
From and after the date of this agreement, the
City of Friendswood shall have exclusive extraterritorial
jurisdiction, to the exclusion of the City of Pearland, in
that area to the south and southeast of the line described
in Section II above.

In addition to the foregoing apportionment of
overlapped extraterritorial jurisdiction of the City of
Friendswood and the City of Pearland, each such City desires
to relinquish and release to the other any extraterritorial
jurisdiction, exclusive or overlapped, present or future,
in the following described areas.
The City of Friendswood relinquishes and releases
to the City of Pearland any and all extraterritorial
jurisdiction it, the City of Friendswood, may have in
Brazoria County, Texas.
The City of Pearland relinquishes and releases
to the City of Friendswood any and all extraterritorial
jurisdiction it, the City of Pearland, may have in Galveston
County, Texas.
The relinquishment and release of such extra-
territorial jurisdiction described in this section shall
be effective from and after the date of this agreement.
VI.
This agreement shall be executed, in duplicate,
either copy of which shall be considered to be an original
copy, by the Mayor of each City, attested by the City
Secretary and under the corporate.seal of -each of. said Cities.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the Cities of Friendswood
and Pearland have authorized the execution of this agreement
by the appropriate officials, such authority having been
granted by resolution or ordinance by the respective
