DOYLE, CHIEF OF POLICE RE: EDUCATION/INCENTIVE PAY In reviewing several different aspects of the Pearland Police Department in an effort to identify specific areas that would make us more attractive to potential applicants as well as to provide a benefit to current officers, I have identified one specific area that I believe requires attention and that is our education/incentive pay. As you and I have discussed in the past, the education/incentive pay has not been adjusted in at least twenty (20) years. During the period time in which no adjustments were made the original value of this benefit deteriorated by at least fifty (50) percent and did not allow for any enhancement. I request that during the upcoming budget cycle that education/incentive pay for the Department be modified. This adjustment will bring us inline with comparable agencies in our area.
