AN ORDINANCE CREATING AN EXECUTIVE CITY ADMINISTRATOR BY
APPOINTMENT IN AND FOR THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS ; PRO-
VIDING FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF SUCH POSITION; OUTLINING THE
DUTIES OF SUCH POSITION BY REFERENCE; AND SETTING OUT PAY;
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR
PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1: The position of an Executive City
Administrator for the City of Pearland, Texas, after the
effective date of this Ordinance shall be filled by appoint-
ment of the City Council of the City of Pearland, Brazoria
County, Texas .
SECTION 2 : The duties, powers, authority and
obligations of.,the Executive City Administrator shall be
to supervise all of the administrative functions of the
City and to advise the City Secretary in all of its duties,
to and toward the function in governmental matters ; and to
assist the Tax Assessor and Collector in the performance
of his duties.
SECTION 3 : The position of Executive City Ad-
ministrator shall be filled by Jerry Henderson and shall
be for an indefinite period of time subject to the will
of the City Council. The said Jerry Henderson shall be
paid the sum of $11, 000.00 per year, in equal semi-monthly
payments plus moving cost from his present domicile to
Pearland, Texas . Said salary agreement and payments shall
commence on December 11, 1967.

`-SECTION 4,e. The effective date of this Ordinance
shall be the j/7/0 day of Dec-eni ,L.,- , 1967 , at
/ 4' o 'clock p .m.
SECTION 5: If any part of any section, portion
or part of this Ordinance shall be held by a Court of
competent jurisdiction to be void or unconstitutional,
the rest and remainder of such Ordinance not held to be
void or unconstitutional shall continue to remain in full
force and effect, and any such partial illegality shall
not affect the same as a whole.
SECTION 6: The fact that there is now a definite
need for a Executive City Administrator at this time and
that an imperative public necessity exists for the creation
of such position, the parliamentary rule of procedure re-
quiring that ordinances be read on three separate meetings,
b?, and the same is hereby suspended and this Ordinance
shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.
