Ord. 0138 1967-09-28ORDINANCE NO. 138 AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING THE CONSTRUCTION, LAYING, BUILDING OR REPLACING ANY PIPELINE WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS OF PEARLAND, BRAZORIA COUNTY, TEXAS, AND WITHIN THE DISTANCE OF 250 FEET OF ANY RESIDENCE, BUSINESS SITE OR BUILDING WHERE PERSONS MAY CONGRE- GATE, FOR THE PURPOSE OF TRANSPORTING OR CARRYING ANY PRODUCT OR MATERIAL HEAVIER THAN AIR; AND DE- CLARING AN EMERGENCY. * * WHEREAS, it has become apparent that there is a possibility that the general welfare, health and i //:9,/ life of person in the City of Pearland, Brazoria County, Texas, may be in peril,and, WHEREAS, the citizens of the City of Pearland should be protected; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS: That this Ordinance is therefore enacted and it shall be prohibited that any person, company prcorpora- tion shall not construct, lay, build, replace any pipe- lines or cause to be done, any pipelines to carry or trans- portany products or materials "heavier than air" with reed vapor pressure greater than 15 PSIG(pounds per square inch gauge)within a distance closer than 250 feet of any building, residence, home -site, or any building where people may gather for assembly, such as club rooms, churches, schools, etc. / Vb N It specifically does not prohibit the construc- tion of aforesaid pipelines described for the transport- ing of any product that is "lighter than air".
