MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE.CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, HELD ON
MARCH 1, 1982, AT 7:30 P.M. IN THE CITY HALL, 2335 N. TEXAS AVE.,, PEARLAND, TEXAS.
The meeting was called to order with the following present:

Mayor Reid, at the request of the Marketing and Distributive Education Department of the
Pearland Independent School District, issued a Proclamation, proclaiming March 13, 1982,
as "Ray Anderson Day".
PURPOSE OF THE MEETING:
1. REPORT BY CITY ATTORNEY AND CITY SECRETARY ON PETITION SUBMITTED REQUESTING
AN ELECTION BE HELD UNDER ARTICLE 1269M, POLICEMEN'S CIVIL SERVICE ACT.
2. CONSIDERATION AND POSSIBLE ACTION - RESOLUTION R82-11, A RESOLUTION OF THE
CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS; ORDERING AN ELECTION TO BE HELD ON APRIL 3, 1982,
FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF THE CITY OF PEAR -
LAND THE QUESTION OF ADOPTION OF A POLICEMEN'S CIVIL SERVICE ACT.
CITY ATTORNEY'S REPORT:
City Attorney Bobby Williams reported to the City Council that, in his opinion, the
petition; submitted by William F. Garney.and James A. Templin, was a legal petition
under Article 1269 M, Policemen's Civil Service Act.

City Secretary Dorothy Cook read the following report:

voting in the last City election.

HELD ON APRIL 3, 1982, SUBMITTING THE QUESTION OF ADOPTION OF A POLICEMEN'S CIVIL SERVICE

It was moved by Councilman Lentz, seconded by Councilman Mack that Resolution No. R82-11
be passed and approved on first and only reading. Said Resolution No. R82-11 reads in
