1983-11-12 PEARLAND PARKS, RECREATION AND BEAUTIFICATION BOARD REGULAR MEETING MINUTESMINUTES MINUTES OF THE MONTHLY MEETING OF THE PEARLAND PARKS, RECREATION AND BEAUTIFICATION BOARD HELD SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 12, 1983 AT THE CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS, 2337 NORTH TEXAS AVENUE, PEARLAND, TEXAS The meeting was called to order at 9:13 with Chairman Pro Tem Larry Juull presiding, with the following members present: CHAIRMAN PRO TEM: Larry Juull SECRETARY: James Skipper MEMBER: Inez Farmer MEMBER: Bob Pond DIRECTOR: Barry Smink Bob Pond moved that the minutes of the October meeting be approved. Motion was seconded and carried. Barry reported on park personnel and responsibility changes, one on Independence Park and one on Special Projects. A storage shed has been built at the City Barn for park equipment. Julie Alvarado will replace Pat Hodges as receptionist of the City Barn. Park Master Plan was reviewed. New parks should be placed near schools and school boards should be encouraged to consider having parks on school property. Large areas are also needed. An area of 45.72 acres on McLean Road is now being considered. , Bob Pond moved that the City Council consider enacting an ordinance whereby every subdivision for residential purposes had to include "a portion of land permanently dedicated for the purpose of providing open space, park, or other recreational areas to serve residents of the immediate neighborhood within the subdivision. Motion was seconded and carried. Barry will serve on "Friends of Education" committe to meet bi-monthly with a school board representative. Three monitary donations have been made to the park -one from the Dads Club for $700.00. Dates to remember: November 26-Santa arrives: December 3-Park Board meeting at new building: December 10-Official opening of new building. Bob Pond moved meeting adjourn at 10:40.
