1986-11-08 PEARLAND PARKS, RECREATION AND BEAUTIFICATION BOARD REGULAR MEETING MINUTESMinutes of the monthly meeting of the Pearland Parks,
Recreation and Beautification Board held Saturday, November
8, 1986, at the Pearland Community Center, 3523 Liberty
Drive, Pearland, Texas.
The meeting was called to order by Chairman George Triebel,
Jr. with the following present: Inez Farmer, Larry Juull,
Tootie McComb, Bob Pond, James Skipper, Claude Stegall, and
Director Barry Lastik.
The minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed and
approved on the motion of Larry Juull, seconded by James
Skipper, and the vote of the Board.
The Director presented the department reports and answered
questions. The majority of efforts were devoted to the
development of McLean park. Questions about the financial
and Community Center reports were answered.
The Community Center Facility Rental Fee Structure priority
listing and classification of users was discussed.
Larry Juull moved to send a letter to the City Council
advising them of the Community Center rental fee structure
and requesting their continued support of our operating
procedures. The motion was seconded by Claude Stegall and
the motion carried.
During open discussion James Skipper suggested again that a
line of "Sycamore" trees be planted along the north edge of
the drainage canal between the softball field and the
tennis courts and a few between the Rotary park bridge and
the rest room. It was suggested a commercial nursery give
a estimate and the board might condider appropriate action.
Bob Pond commented on how well the park facility look
including, the new restroom with matching paint job, foot
bridge and replacement of fence on Dixie Farm Road. Some
suggested improvements were replacement of the electrical
cover, removal of mud hole at basketball goals and raising
of the monument all in the Sonny Tobias park.
Some Beautification Award nominees for next month were
Chamber of Commerce facility and Jim Mercer Insurance
facility.
A motion not to hold the December meeting unless pressing
business should arise was made by Larry Juull and seconded
by Claude Stegall. The motion carried.
The next meeting will be January 10, 1987.
Inez Farmer moved to adjourn. The motion was seconded by
Tootie McComb. The meeting adjourned.
