COUNCIL CHAMBERS, 3519 LIBERTY DRIVE, PEARLAND, TEXAS.
The meeting was called to order with the following present:

Vice Chairman Al Lentz and member Helen Beckman had excused absences.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
It was moved by Clyde Starns that the minutes of Regular meeting of
February 2, 1988, be approved as submitted. Mary Starr seconded the
motion.
Motion passed 5 -0.
NEW BUSINESS: CONSIDERATION AND POSSIBLE ACTION: PRELIMINARY PLAT
MAGNOLIA INDUSTRIAL SITES, SECTIONS 1 & 2, A SUBDIVISION OF 50.4616
ACRES OUT OF THE H.T. & B. R.R. COMPANY SURVEY, SECTION 11, A -239
PEARLAND, BRAZORIA COUNTY, TEXAS, C.L. DAVIS & CO., C.L. DAVIS, AGENT,
INDUSTRIAL LEASING & INVESTMENT CO., LTD., MANCEL C. BEAM & ROBERT C.
ANDERSON, OWNERS.
After a discussion concerning drainage, existing right of ways,
platting procedures related to subdivision of tracts in sections,
Benny Frank made a motion to approve Preliminary Plat of Magnolia
Industrial Sites with a stipulation that the boundaries which divide
Sections 1 & 2 be shown with heavy lines. Mary Starr seconded the
motion. Motion passed 570.
CONSIDERATION AND POSSIBLE ACTION: REVIEW OF PROPOSED SIGN
REGULATIONS AND AMENDMENT TO THE LAND USE AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT
ORDINANCE #509, CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS.
Leroy Savoie asked the Commission to review proposed sign regulations
page by page, except Section 22 -17, which will be covered on the next
item of the agenda. After reviewing proposed sign ordinance and
making final changes,the Commission moved to next item on the agenda.
CONSIDERATION AND POSSIBLE ACTION: RECONSIDERATION OF PROPOSED
LIMITATION ON OFF- PREMISE SUBDIVISION /BUILDER SIGNS.
After a lengthy discussion regarding off - premise subdivision signs
and problems they might present if other signs are discriminated

of proposed sign regulations of the City of
Pearland, Texas, a proposed amendment to Ordinance

Sec. 22, Sign Regulations.

against, Benny Frank made a motion to eliminate Section 22 -17 of
the sign draft, which would have allowed one builder /subdivision sign
at main entrance of any new subdivision. James Garner seconded the
motion.
Motion passed 5 -0.
CONSIDERATION AND POSSIBLE ACTION: RECOMMENDATION TO CITY COUNCIL
REGARDING ADOPTION OF PROPOSED SIGN REGULATIONS OF THE CITY OF
PEARLAND, TEXAS, A PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO ORDINANCE #509, LAND USE AND
URBAN DEVELOPMENT ORDINANCE, SEC. 22, SIGN REGULATIONS.
Leroy Savoie made a motion to recommend to City Council approval of
proposed sign regulations and recommended changes as submitted. Clyde
Starns seconded the motion.
Motion passed 5 -0.
There being no further business to come before the Commission at the
Special Meeting of February 16, 1988, Benny Frank made a motion to
adjourn. James Garner seconded the motion.
Motion passed 5 -0.
