1988-04-02 PARKS, RECREATION AND BEAUTIFICATION BOARD MINUTESMINUTES Minutes of the monthly meeting of the Pearland Parks, Recreation and Beautification Board held Saturday, April 1988, at the Pearland Community Center, 3523 Liberty Drive, Pearland Texas. The meeting was called to order by Chairman George Triebel Jr. with the following present: Larry Juull, Tootie McComb, Bob Pond, James Skipper, Billy Wolff and Director Barry Lastik. Barry reported that Inez Farmer would be absent. Claude Stegall was absent. The minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed. Tootie McComb pointed out that her motion pertaining to replacement of trees in Independence Park had a time specification of as soon as reasonably possible. With this correction the board approved the minutes on the motion of Tootie McComb, seconded by James Skipper, and the vote of the Board. During old business Barry reported the swimming pool resurfacing project has been approved by the City Council and the project should be completed by the end of April. The donation of the Gazebo by the Green Tee Homeowners -Association will not be accepted due to excessive cost to restore it. The Director presented the department reports and answered questions. The majority of the efforts were devoted to preparing the ball field for seasonal play, converting the swimming pool to liquid chlorination and building fence at the Old Settlers Cemetery. Barry discussed his requirements for park maintenance equipment. Planning for a summer play ground • program is complete, but this plan has not been approved by the City Manager at this time. Billy Wolff suggested that the Board consider requesting city water at the Old Settlers Cemetery. James Skipper made a motion to include water service in the drainage plan for the cemetery. Tootie seconded the motion and the motion carried. Water service will be installed at the Independence Park pavilion. The next meeting will be held May 14, 1988. Bob Pond moved to award Wood Creek Civic Club a Beautification Award for continued efforts in maintaining the entrance and esplanade in their subdivision. Larry Juull seconded the motion and the motion carried. Barry indicated that the agenda for May will include consideration of amateur radio antennas in the Parks. James Skipper moved to adjourn. The motion was seconded by Larry Juull. The meeting adjourned.
