1988-08-13 PARKS, RECREATION AND BEAUTIFICATION BOARD MINUTESMINUTES
Minutes of the monthly meeting of the Pearland parks, gecreation
and Beautification Board held Saturday, August 13, 1988, at the
Pearland Community Center, 3523 Liberty Drive,-Pearland Texas.
The meeting was called to order by Chairman George Triebel Jr.
with the following present: Inez Farmer, Larry Juull, Tootie
McComb, Bob Pond, James Skipper, Claude Stegall, Parks Director
Barry Lastik, Assistant City Manager Don Birkner and Councilman
Billy Wolff.
The minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed and approved on
the motion of Larry Juull, seconded by Tootie McComb, and the.
vote of the Board.
During old business there was considerable discussion on the
Clean. Pearland proposal and the Parks Board participation.
Concerns were expressed about utility right-of-way and the
financial burden of these projects. The Board agreed to meet
again with Clean Pearland Board to discuss this proposal.
Barry reported during new business that the Pool attendance will
exceed 15,000 this summer. This is about the same or better than
last year. Competitive swimming, swimming lessons and recreation
swimming have been some of the activities provided this year.
Don Birkner gave a report on Brazoria Parks Commission Board
meeting. Don ask the Commission to consider development of
McLean Park as one of their projects in the northern end of
Brazoria county. The Commission will study the situation.
Billy Wolff ask if any progress had been made toward getting a
cost estimate for a basketball play area in McLean Park. No
progress has been made due to Barry's illness.
The next meeting will be held September 10, 1988.
Larry Juull moved to adjourn. The motion was seconded by Claude
Stegall. The meeting adjourned.
