1988-10-08 PARKS, RECREATION AND BEAUTIFICATION BOARD MINUTESMINUTES
Minutes of the monthly meeting of the Pearland Parks, Recreation
and Beautification Board held Saturday, October 88 1988, at the
Pearland Community Center, 3523 Liberty Drive, Pearland Texas.
The meeting was called to order by Chairman George Triebel Jr.
with the following present: Inez Farmer, Larry Juull, Bob Pond,
James Skipper and Parks Director Barry Lastik. Barry reported
that Tootie McComb, Claude Stegall and Billy Wolff would be
absent.
The minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed and approved on
the motion of Larry Juull, seconded by Inez Farmer, and the vote
of the Board.
During old business Barry reported that Board members Tootie
McComb and James Skipper had volunteered to serve with Clean
Pearland in creating committees to study Clean Pearland
landscaping and beautification projects known as Phases I and II.
There has been no progress in regard to the McLean Park
development.
Barry reported that the final financial report confirmed that
the labor cost of operating Independence Park Pool was self-
sustaining this year. Watts Pool Co. completed the warranty
maintenance work on the Pool and warranty will extend through
March of 1989.
Under new business Barry reported that Clean Pearland will hold
their next meeting October 14 with a chicken dinner. The second
annual Trade Fair will begin October 11 at 5 p.m. The Parks
department is planning another health fair.
Inez Farmer nominated Popeyes Famous Fried Chicken for a
Beautification Award.
The next meeting will be held November 12, 1988.
Larry Juull moved to adjourn. The motion was seconded by James
Skipper. The meeting adjourned.
