1989-09-09 PARKS, RECREATION AND BEAUTIFICATION BOARD MINUTESMINUTES Minutes of the monthly meeting of the Pearland Parks, Recreation and Beautification Board held Saturday, September 9L 1989, at the Pearland Community Center, 3523 Liberty Drive, Pearland Texas. The meeting was called to order by Chairman George Treibel with the following present: Inez Farmer, Larry Juull, Tootie McComb, Bob Pond, James Skipper, Claude Stegall, Parks Supervisor Barry Lastik and Councilman Billy Wolff. Continuing beautification awards were presented to Windsong Village and Pearland State Bank. Representatives of.. Pearland State Bank were present to accept their award. The minutes of the previous meeting stand approved as printed. During old business Barry reported that efforts to have the Parks Department Clerk upgraded to a Secretary position were continuing. No action has been taken by council concerning the abolishment of waiver of fees for the Community Center on weekends. During new business Barry reported on the various department activities. The majority of the efforts were toward maintaining pool, softball field, Pasternak Park, Melvin Knapp activity building and mowing. The final report of the pool income was $16,260.82... ..Which represents $1,301.18 above labor expenses. During open discussion James Skipper requested a workshop meeting to formulate a plan to connect the pedestrian bridge and sidewalk within Independence Park. There was some discussion concerning the pending Council action on a citizens request to lease the Melvin Knapp Activity Center. Billy Wolff requested the Board evaluate a proposed plan by local developers near Independence Park allowing foot path access into the east side of the Park. Larry Juull moved to table, .:the discussion until the next meeting, allowing time to get a Copy of the plans. The motion was seconded by Claude Stegall and. 'the motion carried. There were no nominations for beautification awards this month. The next meeting will be held October 14, 1989. Tootie McComb moved to adjourn. The motion was seconded by James Skipper.
