Ord. 1243 02-13-06ORDINANCE NO. 1243 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, PROVIDING FOR REIMBURSEMENT OF JURORS FOR THE MUNICIPAL COURT OF RECORD OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS. WHEREAS, the State of Texas permits municipal courts to reimburse jurors that respond to the process of the court for jury duty; and the City of Pearland desires to reimburse jurors who respond to the process of the Municipal Court of Record of the City of Pearland, Texas. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS: Section 1. Each juror in a municipal court case is entitled to receive, as reimbursement, an amount of not less that $10 for each day or portion of each day served as a juror. Section 2. Each person who responds to the process of the court, but is excused from jury service by the court for any cause after the person's voir dire examination is entitled to receive, as reimbursement, not less than $10 for each day or portion of each day in attendance in court in response to the process. Section 3. Any juror desiring to make a donation of their jury reimbursement shall be afforded the opportunity to designate to a City Wide Donation Fund or the Park and Recreation Development Fund. Juror payments that are unclaimed shall be deposited in the City Wide Donation Fund. PASSED and APPROVED on First and Only Reading this the 13th day of February , A. D., 2006.
