1964-12-04 CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES 126' A special meeting of the Pearland City Council was held on December 5th, 1964, at the City Hall, 1)I429 Texas Avenue, with the following city officials and guests in attendance . Mayor John G ley, Councilmen Steven A. Shukanes, Thomas P. exan er, Gene E. Sanders Victor A. Nolen, City Engineer ,U%0. William C. Wa s , cretary W. A. McClellan. Guests : J. G. Mazey (Southern Engineering Company) , Carl Ingra (Navajo Construction Company, Inc. ) , Bill Rogers (Dixon Concrete Pipe Company) , G. M. Strick, (B. & B. Properties) , G. G. Ross, 0. C. Couch, George C. Cbx„M. L. McCarty, R. T. Lee (Standard Concrete Pipe Sales Company) , J. L. Smith (W. S . Dickey Clay Manufacturing Company) , E. H. Brundrett (Johns-Manville Company) , Jim Anderson and Jack McLaren. Mayor Kegley stated that the purpose of the meeting was to open bids for the sewage treatment plant to be built on Site No. 3, and bids for the trunk lines for Sleepy Hollow and Longwood Subdivisions . Bids for the sewer plant were as follows : McCarty Construction Company $ 99,750.00 George C. Cox Construction Companyl 107,500.00 Couch Construction Company 108,600.00 Navajo Construction Company 104,773.00 B. & S . Properties 107,000.00 G. G. Ross 108,600.00 Bids for the Trunk Lines were as follows : B. & T. Construction Company - Concrete Pipe 327,100.00 Texala Construction Company - Concrete Pipe 215,223.10 Cement 248,899.00 Clay ,Pipe 299,800.00 Lamar Construction Company - Concrete Pipe 238,757.86 Cement Asbestos Pipe 277,339.15 Clay Pipe 320,387.40 Engineer Walsh thanked all bidders and recommended that the Cashiers checks be returned except the three low bids on the Sewage Treat- ment Plant. Also, return the Cashiers Check to the B. & T. Construction Company. Meeting adjourned at 11 :30 A. M. M. , at the City Hall, 1)1)129 ,Texas Avenue with the following city officials and guests in attendance. Mayor John G. Kegley, Councilmen Steven A. Shukanes, Gene E. Sanders, Victor A. Nolen, Thomas P. Alexander .and City Secretary W. A. McClellan. Guest: Lloyd C. Hawkins . Mayor Kegley stated that the purpose of the meeting was to canvass the votes of the special election held on December 5, 1964, to elect a Councilman and to swear in the Councilman-elect. Shukanes made a motion, seconded by Nolen, that the resolution canvassing the votes be accepted as presented and that Councilman- elect Lloyd C. Hawkins be sworn in. All Councilmen voted "aye" with no "noes. " Motion carried. Mayor Kegley read two letters he had written to Henry Jordan, Commissioner of County Precincte To. 3, requesting that Robert Street in Clear Creek Estates be shell oefore busTmi.ng impassable and giving permission for the shelling of the shoulder of Grand Boulevard south from Jasmine Street, a distance of approximately 200 feet.
