A regular meeting of the Pearland City Council was held on Thursday
November 12, 1964, at the City Hall, 1)1)129 Texas Avenue, with
the following city officials and guests in attendance.
Mayor John G. Kegley, Councilmen Steve A. Shukanes, Thomas P.
Alexander, Victor A. Nolen, Gene E. Sanders, City Attorney Jack
Harrison, City Engineer William C. Walsh and City Secretary W.A.
McClellan.

Motion made by Shukanes, seconded by Sanders, that minutes of regular
meeting held on October 22, 1964, be corrected as follows : Strike
out the motion on the bottom on Page 113 dealing with instruction to
the Fiscal Agent. All Councilmen voted "aye" with no "noes ." Motion
carried.
Motion made by Shukanes, seconded by Sanders, that minutes of regular
meeting held on October 22, 1964, be approved with corrections .
All Councilmen voted "aye" with no "noes . " Motion carried.
Motion made by Sanders, seconded by Nolen, that minutes of special
meeting held on October 29, 1964, be approved. All Councilmen
voted "ayes' with no "noes. " Motion carried.
Motion made by Shukanes, seconded by Nolen, that the following
invoices and salaries be paid. All Councilmen voted "aye" with
no "noes . " Motion carried.

Mayor Kegley stated that the Street and Bridge Department had
approved the acceptance of Rayburn Lane, although it is only 351
wide, since it was in use before the City annexed that area.
Motion made by Sanders, seconded by Nolen, that Right-of-Way
for Rayburn Lane be accepted. Councilmen Nolen, Shukanes and
Sanders voted "aye", Councilman Alexander abstained. Motion
carried.

Mayor Kegley stated that the Highway Department study for State
Highway 35 and Brookside Road had been received and referred
to the Street and Bridge Committee .
A letter from the State Department of Health was referred to
Engineer Walsh for handling.
Motion mad e by Nolen, seconded by Sanders, that W. A. White be
given until January 1, 1965, to move all of the cars out of his
lot. All Councilmen voted "aye" with no "noes . " Motion carried.
J. E . Little and W. E. Parker requested that a portion of the Old
Alvin Highway from Orange Street to Linda Street be shelled as soon
as possible. Mayor Kegley referred this matter to the Street and
Bridge Department.
Mayor requested the City Secretary to write a letter of appreciation
to Drainage District No. 4 regarding the improvements made to the
garbage dump as well as the better drainage to this area. Also,
a letter to the County Commissioner for putting shell on the County
road leading to the garbage dump.
Mayor Kegley stated that 'HAghie Raney had located a house that
could be moved to the garbage dump for Chester to live in. The
house will cost $50.00 and will be moved to the site by the
Drainage District. A local contractor will paint it and a local
paint manufacturer will furnish the paint.
Motion made by Shukanes, seconded by Alexander, that the sum of
$50.00 be transferred from the Unappropriated Reserve Account to
the Garbage Department Account to pay for the house. All Council-
men voted "aye" with no "noes ." Motion carried.
City Engineer Walsh presented some papers on Well No. 1 that will
be handled at a later meeting.
Nolen reported for the Subdivision Committee and stated that the
water and sewer plans for the Double L Subdivision had been studied
by the Committee . The Committee recommended that the Council
accept the sewer plans, however, it would be necessary for the
Double L to make two changes in the water plans .
Nolen made a motion, seconded by Sanders, that the City accept
the sewer plans of the Double L Subdivision and that the water
plans be accepted after the following two changes are made : 1.
Piping on Broadway be extended to intersect with the property
line at Mykawa Road. 2. Piping on Austin Street be stubbed out
to the North property line . Councilmen Shukanes, Nolen and Sanders
voted "aye ." Councilman Alexander absent. Motion carried.
Motion made by Kegley, seconded by Nolen, that two volumes of
Vernon' s Civil Statutes of the State of Texas, on Cities, Towns_
and Villages, being No. 2A and No. 2B be purchased. Councilmen
Shukanes, Nolen and Sanders voted "aye': Councilman Alexander
absent . Motion carried.
Finance Committee to report on the water line for Sherwood Sub-
division at the next meeting.
Nolen reported that a permit from the State Highway Department
should be received any day for the temporary sewer line across
F. M. 518.
Street and Bridge Committee to check with Lloyd Yost regarding a
street crossing over a Drainage District' s easement.
Secretary instructed to obtain bids for both shell and limestone
for future use.
Mayor Kegley stated that the next regular council meeting would be
on Tuesday November 24, since Thanksgiving fell on the regular
meeting date .

Motion made by Kegley, seconded by Nolen, that W. A. McClellan
be permitted to attend a two day Tax School in Austin on December
7 and 8, with registration and expenses paid. Councilmen Shukanes,
Nolen and Sanders voted "aye': Councilman Alexander absent.
Motion carried.
Motion made by Nolen, seconded by Shukanes, that final disbursement
be made to Mora Construction Company in the amount of $5,184.34 for
water mains and appurtenances to serve Sleepy Hollow and Longwood
Subdivisions, when a change order authorizing $1,041.96 in addi-
tional funds is received from City Engineer Walsh. ,Councilmen
Shukanes, Nolen and Sanders voted "aye': Councilman Alexander
absent. Motion carried.
