1984-09-11 CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES230 MINUTES OF A SPECIAL EMERGENCY MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, HELD ON SEPTEMBER 11, 1984, AT 7:30 PM IN THE CITY HALL; 2335 N. TEXAS AVE., PEARLAND, TEXAS The meeting was called to order with the following present: Mayor Councilman/Mayor Pro Tem Councilman Councilman Councilman Councilman City Manager City Attorney Assistant City Secretary PURPOSE OF THE MEETING: Tom Reid Dennis Frauenberger Terry Gray James.E. Bost Al Lentz Charles R. Mack Ronald J. Wicker Bobby Williams Kay Krouse 1. CONSIDERATION OF AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO RATES TO BE CHARGED BY HOUSTON LIGHTING AND POWER COMPANY FOR ELECTRIC UTILITY SERVICE WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS. City Attorney Bobby Williams explained that this special emergency meeting was called for the Council to consider an ordinance setting the rates to be charged by Houston Lighting & Power Company and is based on the recommendation of the Coalition of Cities with Original Jurisdiction and the City of Houston. The timeframe was such that action needed to be taken by September 12. ORDINANCE NO. 479, AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO RATES TO BE CHARGED BY HOUSTON LIGHTING & POWER COMPANY FOR ELECTRIC UTILITY SERVICE WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS Ordinance No. 479 read in caption by Mayor Reid. (First and Only Reading - Emergency Basis) It was moved by Councilman Frauenberger, seconded by Councilman Lentz that Ordinance No. 479 be passed and approved on first and only reading. Said Ordinance No. 479 reads in caption as follows: ORDINANCE NO. 479 AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO RATES TO BE CHARGED BY HOUSTON LIGHTING AND POWER COMPANY FOR.ELECTRIC UTILITY SERVICE WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS; CONTAINING FINDINGS AND OTHER PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; PROVIDING FOR A REPEALER AND FOR SEVERABILITY; AND DECLARING AN IMMEDIATE PUBLIC EMERGENCY. Voting "Aye": Councilman Bost, Councilman Frauenberger, Councilman Mack and Councilman Lentz. Voting "No": Councilman Gray Motion passed 4 to 1. ADJOURN: Meeting adjourned at 7:43 P. M.
