As a quorum was not present, the following are notes from the round table open discussion by those
attending.

Meeting began at 8:30 am. Bill Berger with the American Hero Foundation presented an update on
the status of the Veterans Memorial Park. Mr. Berger indicated the foundation has hired an
architect to design the park. Plans are for the park to be built in stages, as costs are estimated
between 2 and 2.5 million dollars. The park is for all veterans, not just for honoring Pearland area
vets. An amphitheater has been added to the original design of the park.
Ed Hersh answered Paul Habermas' question of exactly where the park is planned. Mr. Berger felt
fund raising efforts need to proceed as soon as possible and the location of the park would become
"w%. available with Pearland Parkway being built. Discussion following concerning events at the park
including parking concerns. Mr. Hersh indicated that parking could possibly be shared with a PISD
school that is planned near the park location. The park is planned as a memorial, no playgrounds
are planned, however picnic areas are included.
Joe Taylor made a motion to accept the new design of the park. Paul Habermas seconded, motion
tabled until a quorum is present.
Discussion following about the Grand Blvd Park. Ed Hersh indicated that no major changes have
taken place in the design since the Park Board has approved it. General discussion followed,
concerning parking, street access and other general issues.
Paul Habermas made a motion to accept the Grand Blvd Park design, Joe Taylor seconded the
motion. Motion tabled until a quorum is present.
As no business could be conducted, Mr. Hersh thanked those in attendance for coming. No date
was set for the next Park Board meeting.
