1970-07-09 PEARLAND LIBRARY BOARD MEETING MINUTESThe fifth regular meeting of the Pearland Library Board
was held Thursday, July 9, 1970 in the Pearland State Bank
Building: The Cochaiiman, Pat Crawford, called the meeting to
order at 7:30 p.m. with the following members present: Pat
Crawford, Norma Flory, Herb Carlston, Jack Idoux and Nina Sanders.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and accepted.
The Treasurer reported $#1,415.01 in the bank account after
expenses to date.
Herb Carlston moved the Board approve the purchase of a
scrapbook.. Payment of expenses connected with "Library Day" were
also approved.
Site and Building Committee: The Board made a visit to
the "Mead property".
Government Help: Herb Carlston reported he is still
negotiating with the County to get in the County's 1969 budget.
Foundations: Answers to requests are coming in, but no
tabulation has been made as to how many might be favorable.
Book Contributions Committee: Pat Crawford reported 400
books donated to the Library have been tabulated and taken to
Angleton for processing. The Committee is considering having a
booth at Rally Day where people can purchase books and donate
them back to the Library.
Publicity Committee: Norma Flory reported her Committee is
cooperating in publizising "Library Day". The Board authorized
the purchase of a sign for the new site to be installed as soon
,as City Council signs a Lease or Purchase agreement.
Furniture and Shelving: Herb Carlston was authorized to
,invite Jack McGuff to assist in planning an interior design and
furniture layout.
