The purpose of the meeting is to raise awareness of State Highway 36 and the critical role it plays as a commerce corridor. The resolution supports the efforts of the Brazoria County Economic Development Alliance to restore construction funding for SH 36 from Freeport to Rosenberg, and urges that studies be commenced for improvements to the remaining SH 36 corridor from Rosenberg to Sealy. As you know, in 2003 the Alliance encouraged studies for improvements to the SH 288 corridor, but their efforts regarding SH 36 improvements will not affect their plans to continue urging improvements to the SH 288 corridor as well.
