R2021-41 A Resolution of The City Council of the City of Pearland, Texas, extending the Mayor's February 18, 2021 Declaration of Disaster associated with the imminent threat and public health emergency resulting from the February 2021 Texas Sever Winter Storm (3554-TP). BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS: Section 1. That on February 18, 2021, as authorized by Chapter 418 of the Texas Government Code (the "Code"), the Mayor executed a Declaration of Disaster (attached hereto as Exhibit "A") associated with the imminent threat and public health emergency resulting from the February 2021 Texas Severe Winter Storm (3554-TP). Section 2. That pursuant to the Code, the Declaration shall continue for a period of not more than seven days from the date of the declaration unless continued or renewed by the City Council of Pearland. Section 3. That the City Council, recognizing the ongoing public emergency created by the Texas Severe Winter Storm, hereby indefinitely extends the Mayor's Declaration of Disaster until the Declaration is suspended by the Mayor or the City Council. COKER CITY ATTORNEY VIN COLE AYOR PROCLAMATION DECLARING A LOCAL STATE OF DISASTER AND PUBLIC EMERGENCY (Texas Severe Winter Storm; 3554-TP) WHEREAS, the Mayor of the City of Pearland recognizes the imminent threat and the potential for severe damage, injury or loss of life or property that has resulted from the February 2021 Texas Severe Winter Storm (3554-TP); and WHEREAS, due to a state-wide interruption in power and water supply, the Mayor of Pearland has determined that extraordinary measures must be taken to alleviate the suffering of individuals and to protect or rehabilitate property; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE MAYOR OF PEARLAND: 1. That a local state of disaster and public emergency is hereby declared pursuant to §418.108(a) of the Texas Government Code. 2. Pursuant to §418.105(b) of the Government Code, the state of disaster shall continue for a period of not more than seven days from the date of this declaration unless continued or renewed by the City Council of Pearland. 3. Pursuant to §418.108(c) of the Government Code, this declaration of a local state of disaster shall be given prompt and general publicity and shall be filed promptly with the City Secretary. 4. Pursuant to §418.108(d) of the Government Code, this declaration of a local .state of disaster activates the City Emergency Management Plan. 5.
