MINUTES OF A JOINT PUBLIC HEARING OF THE CITY COUNCIL AND THE PLANNING
AND ZONING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, HELD ON JULY 8,
1996, AT 7:00 P. M., IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS, CITY HALL, 3519 LIBERTY DRIVE,
PEARLAND, TEXAS.
The hearing was called to order with the following present:

PURPOSE OF THE HEARING: Application No. 66
REQUEST OF AGNES M. VIADA, OWNER; FOR AN AMENDMENT TO THE
LAND USE AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT ORDINANCE OF SAID CITY
FROM CLASSIFICATION SUBURBAN DEVELOPMENT DISTRICT (SD) TO is
GENERAL BUSINESS DISTRICT (GB) ON THE FOLLOWING DESCRIBED
PROPERTY, TO -WIT:
BEING 9.022 ACRES OF LAND OUT OF LOT 27 OF THE
ALLISON-RICHEY GULF COAST HOME COMPANY'S
SUBDIVISION OF SECTION NO. 21, H.T.&B.R.R. CO.
SURVEY, ABSTRACT NO. 309, ACCORDING TO A MAP OR
PLAT OF SAID SUBDIVISION RECORDED IN BOOK 2,
PAGES 23 AND 24 OF THE MAP OR PLAT RECORDS OF
BRAZORIA COUNTY, TEXAS, SAID TRACT OF LAND BEING
THE REMAINDER OF LOT 27 AFTER A 0.978 ACRE TRACT
OF LAND WAS CONVEYED TO THE STATE OF TEXAS, AS
RECORDED IN VOLUME 1552, PAGE 997 OF THE
BRAZORIA COUNTY DEED RECORDS.
STAFF REVIEW:
Assistant City Manager Richard Burdine described the property in question. He
explained that Mrs. Viada is requesting permission to keep her pre-existing single family
dwelling on the property.
PERSONS WISHING TO SPEAK IN SUPPORT:
1. Agnes Viada - 2718 Old Chocolate Bayou Road. Ms. Viada addressed the
Council with regard to the proposed request. She pointed out that she has
recently become a widow and is uncertain as to the length of time she will be able
to continue residing at her property and maintaining it.

BUSINESS DISTRICT (GB) ON THE FOLLOWING DESCRIBED PROPERTY,
TO -WIT:

remain on the property and for the zone application be granted.

The public hearing on Specific Use Permit No. 42 was adjourned at 7:20 p.m.
Mayor Reid announced that the Planning & Zoning Commission would retire to the
Second Floor Conference Room at 7:30 p.m. whereby the public was invited to attend
that meeting, and he noted at which time a decision will be made.
