REQUEST OF PEARLAND INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR A SPECIFIC USE PERMIT IN AN R-2
ZONE TO CONSTRUCT A PUBLIC HIGH SCHOOL FACILITY ON APPROXIMATELY 300,000 SQUARE FEET
ON THE FOLLOWING DESCRIBED PROPERTY, TO -WIT:
Remainder of Lots 12, 13, 14, 15 & 16 of a 83.3719 acre tract of land,
not included in the Commercial zone, Abstract 507, W. N. Murdock Sub-
division, Section 2 of A.C.H. & B.R.R. Survey. (This property is
located on State Highway 35, approximately 2000 feet southeast of
intersection with John Lizer Road.)
1. G. P. Bullard, Superintendent of Schools, P.I.S.D.
Mr. Bullard presented Council with several copies of a plat representing a survey
made on property on which the School District wishes to construct a new high school.
Mr. Bullard pointed out he had previously submitted, for Council review, a site plan
showing the approximate layout of the buildings, parking areas and various fields.
Mr. Bullard advised that the front portion of the property is zoned commercial which
would allow a school to be constructed. The back portion is zoned R-2, residential,
and would require a Specific Use permit. The District, Mr. Bullard said, is now
formally requesting a Specific Use permit for the R-2 portion of the property in
order to construct the high school facility consisting of approximately 300,000
square feet.

In response to a question, Mr. Bullard advised that the site map presented is not
intended to be used as a part of the Specific Use request. In a discussion between
Council and the Planning and Zoning Commission, the following items were brought out:
(1) that any issues concerning street location, width or drainage will be addressed
in the platting process and (2) that platting was required because this is a division
of property.
The Hearing adjourned at 7:44 P. M.
Minutes approved as submitted and/or corrected this a--- day of
A. D., 1988.
