M. IN THE CITY HALL, 3519 TTRERTY DRIVE, PEARLAID, TEXAS The Hearing was called to order with the following present: Mayor Tom Reid Councilmember/Mayor Pro Tem Stella Roberts Councilmember David Smith Councilmember Richard Tetens Councilmember James,Bost Councilmember William Wolff Chairman, Planning & Zoning Leroy Savoie Vice Chairman, Planning & Zoning Al Lentz Member, Planning & Zoning Benny Frank Member, Planning & Zoning Member, Planning & Zoning Member, Planning & Zoning Assistant City Manager Code Enforcement Officer City Secretary Helen Beckman Mary Starr James Garner Don Birkner Ernesto Buenrostro Kay Krouse Absent from the Hearing: City Manager Ron Wicker and Clyde Stares, Member, Planning & Zoning Commission NUMBER OF PERSONS SIGNING THE ATTENDANCE REGISTER: 1 REQUEST OF PEARLAND INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR A SPECIFIC USE PERMIT IN AN R-2 ZONE TO CONSTRUCT A PUBLIC HIGH SCHOOL FACILITY ON APPROXIMATELY 300,000 SQUARE FEET ON THE FOLLOWING DESCRIBED PROPERTY, TO -WIT: Remainder of Lots 12, 13, 14, 15 & 16 of a 83.3719 acre tract of land, not included in the Commercial zone, Abstract 507, W. N. Murdock Sub- division, Section 2 of A.C.H. & B.R.R. Survey. (This property is located on State Highway 35, approximately 2000 feet southeast of intersection with John Lizer Road.) 1. G. P. Bullard, Superintendent of Schools, P.I.S.D. Mr. Bullard presented Council with several copies of a plat representing a survey made on property on which the School District wishes to construct a new high school. Mr. Bullard pointed out he had previously submitted, for Council review, a site plan showing the approximate layout of the buildings, parking areas and various fields. Mr. Bullard advised that the front portion of the property is zoned commercial which would allow a school to be constructed. The back portion is zoned R-2, residential, and would require a Specific Use permit. The District, Mr. Bullard said, is now formally requesting a Specific Use permit for the R-2 portion of the property in order to construct the high school facility consisting of approximately 300,000 square feet. 95 A, I I0.y0 !:� WNFAV N. MIDI: a %i0I: In response to a question, Mr. Bullard advised that the site map presented is not intended to be used as a part of the Specific Use request. In a discussion between Council and the Planning and Zoning Commission, the following items were brought out: (1) that any issues concerning street location, width or drainage will be addressed in the platting process and (2) that platting was required because this is a division of property.
