In an effort to lower adoptable euthanasia we would as a board need to decide on what reason or reasons are an acceptable standard for our community: At this time we have a Dr. of Veterinarian medicine on contract to assist in the medical decisions of the animals. Basic treatable health is addressed and the staff makes the final decision taking into consideration temperament, adoptability, and space. Always keeping in mind that to treat highly contagious diseases we risk the health of the herd. Upper respiratory infection — In a home setting can be treated and allowed to run its course with proper veterinarian care: time to completely be free of disease and adoptable Ring worm —time in a home Conjunctivitis ---time in a home Feral cat's /kittens ->6 weeks Newborn up to 4 weeks Pregnant time /space Age/Geriatric /space Medical emergency Fractious / towards feral behavior/ fearful (very hard to determine on intake) When known FIP or FIV Amn 5 V tL Blind/ incontinent/ ✓fah Ae Severe mw;i ge I type no foster Space and length of time in facility/Petco. This is not to be inclusive, a guideline to open conversation towards a shelter that is open to change for the betterment of the animals and the community.
