PURPOSE OF HEARING — TO CONSIDER THE CREATION OF A REINVESTMENT
ZONE AND TAX ABATEMENT FOR MERIT MEDICAL SYSTEMS, INC., IN
ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 312.201 OF THE TAX CODE AND CITY OF
PEARLAND'S GUIDELINES FOR GRANTING TAXING ABATEMENTS.

STAFF REVIEW OF THE PROPOSED CREATION OF A REINVESTMENT ZONE
AND TAX ABATEMENT FOR MERIT MEDICAL SYSTEMS, INC. IN ACCORDANCE
WITH SECTION 312.201 OF THE TAX CODE AND CITY OF PEARLAND'S
GUIDELINES FOR GRANTING TAXING ABATEMENTS. Mr. Darrin Coker, City
Attorney,
City Attorney Darrin Coker stated this Public Hearing is to review the creation of a
reinvestment zone for Merit Medical Systems. This is the first step of the Tax
Abatement process. The purpose is for Council to establish that the make certain
finding to establish that the improvements being sought would benefit the zone and are
practical and feasible. If Council determines the improvements are beneficial and
practical then there is an Ordinance on the Regular Meeting Agenda to create the
Reinvestment Zone.
