2008-04-28 PEARLAND EMPLOYEES BENEFITS TRUST SPECIAL MEETING MINUTESMINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND EMPLOYEES BENEFITS TRUST, HELD ON MONDAY, APRIL 28, 2008, AT 6:00 P.M., IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS, CITY HALL, 3519 LIBERTY DRIVE, PEARLAND, TEXAS. Mayor Reid called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. with the following present: Mayor Tom Reid Trustee Steve Saboe Trustee Woody Owens Trustee Felicia Kyle Trustee Kevin Cole City Manager Bill Eisen City Attorney Darrin Coker City Secretary Young Lorfing Absent: Trustee Helen Beckman Others in attendance: Danny Cameron Public Works Director; Nick Finan Assistant City Manager; Mike Hodge Assistant City Manager. NEW BUSINESS TRUSTEE'S ACTION: REGARDING THE RENEWAL OF THE CONTRACT WITH VISION BENEFITS OF AMERICA FOR VISION CARE FOR CITY EMPLOYEES. Mr. Bill Eisen, City Manager. Trustee Cole made the motion, seconded by Trustee Owens, to approve the renewal of the contract with Vision Benefits of America for vision care for city employees. City Manager Bill Eisen stated In August 2007, the Pearland Employees Benefit Trust approved to continue providing vision benefits through Vision Benefits of America without an Agent and formed a Benefit Trust Fund to pay premiums for various City employee insurance coverage. This item extends the coverage of this program through Vision Benefits of America for City employees who has agreed to extend the current coverage prices of $3.80 per employee for two additional years expiring September 30, 2010. Vision Benefits of America has been providing coverage to the City of Pearland since 2001 and has continued to provide competitive rates and satisfactory service. Bids were accepted for this service and Vision Benefits of America was the low bidder. Voting "Aye" Trustees Owens, Saboe, Kyle, and Cole. Voting "No" None. Motion Passed 4 to O, with Trustee Beckman absent.
