2006-10-30 CITY COUNCIL PUBLIC HEARING MEETING MINUTESMINUTES OF A PUBLIC HEARING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, HELD ON OCTOBER 30, 2006, AT 6:00 P.M., IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS, CITY HALL, 3519 LIBERTY DRIVE, PEARLAND, TEXAS. Mayor Reid called the meeting to order at 6:45 p.m. with the following present: Mayor Tom Reid Mayor Pro -Tem Richard Tetens Councilmember Kevin Cole Councilmember Helen Beckman Councilmember Steve Saboe City Manager Bill Eisen City Attorney Darrin Coker City Secretary Young Lorfing Absent: Councilmember Felicia Kyle Others in attendance: Jon Branson Parks and Recreation Director; Danny Cameron Public Works Director; Doug Kneupper City Engineer; Nick Finan Assistant City Manager; Mike Hodge Assistant City Manager; Paul Jamison Fire Chief; Lata Krishnarao Planning Director; Claire Manthei Finance Director; Jeff Sundseth EMS Operations Director; Fred Welch Executive Director of Economic Development Corporation. PURPOSE OF HEARING — PUBLIC COMMENT AND TESTIMONY REGARDING THE ABANDONMENT OF UNUSED SANITARY SEWER EASEMENT CROSSING THE LAKES AT HIGHLAND GLEN SUBDIVISION. Mr. Darrin Coker, City Attorney. STAFF REVIEW OF THE ADOPTION OF ABANDONMENT OF UNUSED SANITARY SEWER EASEMENT CROSSING THE LAKES AT HIGHLAND GLEN SUBDIVISION. Mr. Darrin Coker, City Attorney. City Attorney Darrin Coker stated this item might look familiar to Council because it was the topic of a previous Public Hearing but at a different location along Pearland Parkway. This is another 10 -foot portion of sewer easement that is no longer needed due to the expansion of Pearland Parkway. This easement runs through the Lakes at Highland Glen Subdivision. Public Works has stated this easement is no longer necessary and has approved the abandonment. CITIZEN COMMENTS: None. Page 1 of 2 — 10/30/2006 COUNCIUSTAFF DISCUSSION Councilmember Helen Beckman asked if there would be more of this sewer easement that would come up for abandonment in the future. City Attorney Darrin Coker stated that it is unlikely that another portion of the easement will be abandoned. Councilmember Cole stated there is only one more piece of the easement that he knows of that could possibly be abandoned.
