MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PEARLAND, TEXAS, HELD ON FEBRUARY 3, 2003, AT 7:30 P.M., IN THE COUNCIL
CHAMBERS, CITY HALL, 3519 LIBERTY DRIVE, PEARLAND, TEXAS.
The meeting was called to order with the following present:

Others in attendance: Deputy City Manager Alan Mueller; Executive Director of
Economic Development Corporation Fred Welch.
PURPOSE OF MEETING — SUPPORTING THE POTENTIAL APPOINTMENT OF
GLENNN CHANEY TO SERVE AS TEMPORARY JUSTICE OF THE PEACE,
PRECINCT 3, PLACE 2.
COUNCIL ACTION - SUPPORTING THE POTENTIAL APPOINTMENT OF GLENN
CHANEY TO SERVE AS TEMPORARY JUSTICE OF THE PEACE, PRECINCT 3,
PLACE 2. Mr. Darrin Coker, City Attorney.
City Attorney, Darrin Coker, addressed Council and gave a brief summary of the item.
He stated Judge Glenn Chaney would like the blessings of Council before accepting the
position of Interim Justice of the Peace, Precinct 3, Place 2. He stated the position
would not interfere with the current duties of Judge Chaney. He further stated that Judge
Chaney would like for him to express his first and foremost responsibility is performing as
the Pearland Municipal Court Judge.
Council stated and expressed their approval.
A brief discussion ensued among Council and City Attorney, Darrin Coker, concerning
other Cities that are currently filling these two positions with one Judge.

Councilmember Tetens made the motion, seconded by Councilmember Seeger,
supporting Judge Glenn Chaney's appointing to serve as Justice of the Peace, Precinct
3, Place 2.
Voting "Aye" Councilmembers Tetens, Owens, Marcott and Seeger.
Voting "No" None.
Motion Passed 4 to 0, with Councilmember Viktorin absent.
ADJOURNMENT
Meeting was adjourned at 8:13 p.m.
