CALL TO ORDER The Joint Public Hearing was called to order at 7:01 p.m. H. STAFF REPORT Planner I, Theresa Grahmann gave a brief description of the surrounding property. Miss Grahmann stated the specific use application is for a recreational center with head- in parking, and staff is recommending approval. B. APPLICANT PRESENTATION Kevin Price, 311 N. Shadow Bend, Friendswood, stated the construction plans for this facility were approved with no parking, and we decided we needed parking for the recreational center, and the plans were approved, and during the permitting process the head —in parking issue came up as not being in compliance with the ordinance. IV. PERSONS WISHING TO SPEAK FOR OR AGAINST THE PROPOSED REQUEST None V. COUNCIL/PLANNING COMMISSIONlSTAFF DISCUSSION Mr. Tobin Maples, Executive Director of Community Services Mayor Tom Reid stated this is a good solution for handicap parking and for the elderly. Councilman Larry Marcott asked are the areas surrounding this R-1 estate lots, and how wide is Auburn Woods Drive. Mr. Price replied estimated 50 or 60 feet, what ever the city standards are, and they are R-1 size lots. Page 3 of 6 Councilman Larry Marcott commented if there were three stop signs at the intersection it would help in the safety of backing vehicles. VI.
