PURPOSE OF HEARING — A PROPOSAL TO INCREASE TOTAL TAX REVENUES
FROM PROPERTIES ON THE TAX ROLL IN 2002 BY 6.22 PERCENT. Mr. Bill Eisen,
City Manager.
STAFF REVIEW OF PROPOSED TAX INCREASE
City Manager, Bill Eisen, stated the property tax rate will remain the same as it is in the
current year, which is $0.686 per $100 of property value. The two elements that are
calculated into what someone pays in property taxes is the tax rate and the assessed
value of the property. Assessed value is determined by the Appraisal District. The
impact on any individual property owner in the upcoming year would be dependent upon
whether or not, or how much, that person's property value was appraised for by the
Appraisal District, because the property tax rate is remaining the same.
