1996-06-24 CITY COUNCIL AND PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION JOINT PUBLIC HEARING MEETING MINUTESE MINUTES OF A JOINT PUBLIC HEARING OF THE CITY COUNCIL AND THE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, HELD ON JUNE 24, 1996, AT 7:00 P. M., IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS, CITY HALL, 3519 LIBERTY DRIVE, PEARLAND, TEXAS. The hearing was called to order with the following present: Mayor Tom Reid Mayor Pro Tem/Councilmember Jerry Richardson Councilmember Helen Beckman Councilmember Richard Tetens Councilmember Larry Wilkins Councilmember Kevin Cole P & Z Vice Chairman Emil Beltz Commissioner Randy Patro Commissioner Marshall Eggers Commissioner Rob Larsen City Manager Paul Grohman City Attorney Amy McCullough City Secretary Yolanda Benitez Others in attendance: Assistant City Manager Richard Burdine, City Engineer John Hargrove, and Police Chief Mike Hogg. PURPOSE OF THE HEARING: Application No. 67 REQUEST OF DANIEL D. RUCKER, AGENT FOR ROBERT E. EIGNUS, OWNER; FOR AN AMENDMENT TO THE LAND USE AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT ORDINANCE OF SAID CITY FROM SINGLE FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT (R-1) TO GENERAL BUSINESS DISTRICT (GB) ON THE FOLLOWING DESCRIBED PROPERTY, TO -WIT: OF A 2.0511 ACRE TRACT OUT OF THE PERRY AND AUSTIN LEAGUE SURVEY ABSTRACT 111, BRAZORIA COUNTY, TEXAS, BEING A PORTION OF A 3.632 ACRE TRACT OF LAND CONVEYED TO W.T. EIGNUS, AS RECORDED IN VOLUME 432, PAGES 407, 408 AND 411 OF THE DEED RECORDS OF BRAZORIA COUNTY, TEXAS (2809 LONGWOOD). STAFF REVIEW: Assistant City Manager Richard Burdine reviewed a location map concerning the property in the proposed request. PERSONS WISHING TO SPEAK IN SUPPORT: 1. Dan Rucker - 1100 Nasa Road One, Suite 500-H, Houston, Texas. Mr. Rucker presented the Council with a copy of a plat which further outlined the area involved in the proposed request. He pointed out the properties and businesses surrounding their property. Mr. Rucker explained that their future plans include construction on Sections 4 and 5 and purchasing an additional 2 -acre tract in order to finish the top of the subdivision off and tie it over into Longview Drive. He emphasized that it was of utmost importance that they maintain the integrity of the subdivision and take all necessary measures to keep things aesthetically pleasing. Mr. Rucker pointed out that they are requesting the zone reclassification in order to bring their ongoing operation into compliance. PERSONS WISHING TO SPEAK AGAINST: None QUESTION AND ANSWER PERIOD None Mayor Reid announced that the Planning & Zoning Commission would be meeting in the Second Floor Conference Room at 7:30 p.m. to discuss and vote on this request, and noted that the public is invited to attend that meeting. 3 ADJOURNMENT The Joint Public Hearing of the City Council and the Planning & Zoning Commission •-- adjourned at 7:16 P.
