Meeting commenced at 6:01pm. In Attendance: Manny Patel (Vice Chair), Margo Green, Lonzie Helmes, Teir Allender, Tony Caro, Kash Bhagwanji - call in, Kim Sinistore — CVB Executive Director and Jon Branson, Deputy City Manager. Absent - Steve Saboe. Guest — Matt Buchanan, PEDC President. II. DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING January 16, 2019 BOARD MEETING MINUTES. Margo motioned, Teir second and all approved. III. PRESENTATION BY EDC PRESIDENT, MATT BUCHANAN Overview presented about Conference Center/hotel and Indoor amateur sports facility. Conference Center/hotel - PEDC will be coming back to CVB Advisory Board for fund support. Project is approximately 305 years out. PEDC worked with State Rep Ed Thompson's office to submit HB 457 allowing COP to receive state hotel tax and state sales tax rebates for convention center hotel project. Indoor Amateur Facility — an executive summary was handed out and discussed. (see attached) EDC invited CVB Adv Board to April 25, 2019 EDC meeting at 5pm at City Hall 3rd floor. IV. DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION TO ELECT CHAIR AND VICE CHAIR OF CVB ADVISORY BOARD. Margo nominated Manny Patel for Chair and Tony second with unanimous approval. Lonzie nominated Kash Bhagwanji for Vice Chair and Teir second with unanimous approval. V. DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING FY2020 BUDGET. FY2020 CVB budget was presented for Board support. Lonzie motioned to support FY2020 CVB budget, Manny second and all approved unanimously. VI. DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING SPORTS COMPLEX AND FULL SERVICE HOTEL/CONVENTION CENTER. Board tabled action with future discussion or email to follow up, to after April 25 EDC meeting. VII. PUBLIC COMMENTS — none VIII. DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING NEW BUSINESS - none IX. UPDATES: • Railroad Depot Project—Fund raising on going—bricks/benches for sale and grants have been applied. Working with Amanda Hayes on fund raising. • Independence Park Stage—Conducted walk through with Jon B on 3/26 to review status and items needed for stage, which include trusses, basic lighting and dressing room equipment such as dressing table, mirrors, lighting, chairs and place to hang items. Met with Renee of Pearl Theater about dressing room needs. • 1251"Anniversary Celebration—Posters printed and pens ordered. Distribute throughout year and on Sept 26 event day. • TAAF Winter Games of TX—A total of 14 sports attracting 2,185 competitors brought 337 hotel room bookings and an estimated $980,000 in economic impact. 15 sponsors and 118 volunteers assisted. CVB has confirmed to host two more years—2020 and 2021. • Birding—2nd edition of brochure ...and hosted a FAM for bird guider on 3/27-28 for future birding tours. • Visitor Savings Pass—Creating new retail boutique saving pass featuring 13 local shops. • National Travel& Tourism Week—May 4-11, 2019—Pearland Tourism Celebration,Thurs, 5/9, 4-6pm at Delores Fenwick Nature Center. • Filming- Pearland is now a Film Friendly certified city through the State of TX Film Commission. Certification presentation to be held at May 9 Tourism Celebration. • Pear-Scape project—PISD Athletic Dept. and AG Center requested Pears. Athletic Dept to use pear as trophy to display either at Pearland HS or Dawson HS(whoever wins game each year)AND the AG Center will display at location visible to the public. • Air B n B—recommend pursing collecting hotel occupancy tax revenue from Pearland homes on Air B n B. • Website—page views: Quarterly—61,569 (Jan—March 2019) Website updates include revamping the home page and SEO and SEM campaigns on going. • Advertising— Shop Across Texas Register to Win in March; Reunions native content launched in March; Cued up native article for Sri Meenakshi Temple tour to launch in April; Expedia campaign tweaked for Rodeo season; Topic:Expedia/Rodeo-Source: Expedia Feb/March-Results: Impressions-260,048; .81 CTR%;2,096 Clicks; 186 Room Nights Clicked;479 Room Nights Exposed.Topic:Reunions-Source Madden Media March-Results: 50,944 impressions; 3.19%CTR; 1,627 clicks. • Sales Inquiries—Quarterly room night pick-ups—261 pickup rooms, 5 groups; Consumer Inquiries— 1,200; Based on discussions with local hotels, 2019 HLSR rodeo was good for business;lots of group and leisure bookings for the 22 day event. • Sales&Services—Reunions-up for summer 2019, reached out to bookings at Parks Venues for visitor services/assistance. Sports- Texas Classic Basketball tournament—happening here and also in League City utilizing Clear Creek ISD facilities. Organizer agreed to do a hotel survey at the event in an effort to communicate room nights(which we had not been seeing the past few years) and demonstrate economic impact to the community. • MeetingMax—Haynie Spirit Tournament in February cancelled due to weather; slated to have 65 room nights from that event but did not actualize. Working with John Turner Classic Volleyball Tournament for August 2019 event. • Upcoming events: Music to My Beers Fest;Tony Booth Day; Girl's Night Out at PTC.
