ADVISORY BOARD MEETING - MINUTES
Wednesday, January 16, 2019 - 6:00 p.m. at CVB
CALL TO ORDER & CVB ADVISORY BOARD MEMBER ROLL CALL.
Meeting commenced at 6:07pm. In Attendance: Manny Patel, Margo Green, Teir Allender — call in,
Kash Bhagwanji and Kim Sinistore — CVB Executive Director. Absent were: Lonzie Helmes and Steve
Saboe. Guest —Tony Caro, Hilton Garden Inn
II. DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING October 10, 2018 BOARD MEETING MINUTES.
Manny motioned, Margo second and all approved.
III. PUBLIC COMMENTS —Tony Caro of the Hilton Garden Inn introduced himself and informed the
Advisory Board of his application submission to fill the vacant hotel spot left by Gary
Shepherd's resignation.
IV. DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING RAILROAD DEPOT.
Executive Director asked for recommendations and direction of project, if remaining funds are not raised
by end of year. Kash motioned to table recommendations and direction of Depot pending funds not raised
to July meeting. Margo 2"d and all approved. Suggestions were provided to assist with fund raising.

Executive Director's Report...
Agenda item:
• Railroad Depot update—Please provide recommendation and direction of project if remaining funds are not
raised by end of year.
UPDATES:
• Advisory Board -One vacancy(hotel position).
• Railroad Depot Project—MOU with Historical Society signed and working with sub-committee on fund
raising dev.
• Independence Park Stage—Installation moving forward. Working on new event programming in 2019.
• Visitor Guide—New guide printed and distributing throughout 2019.
• Annual Report—Distributed at annual meeting and holiday luncheon on Dec 5.
• Hotel Occupancy Tax Rev—Final revenue total for FY2018-$1,597,003; up from FY2017 $1,421,753.
• 1251"Anniversary Celebration—logo and web page developed;gathering events and working on birthday
celebration for Sept 26, 2019.
• TAAF Winter Games of TX—Games being held this weekend,Jan 18-21. To date, 31 room nights booked,
registered athletes of 800 swimmers, 130 pickle ball players, 200 gymnasts and 42 gridiron.Two sport
cancelled due to low registration.
• Website—page views: Quarterly—50,088(Oct- Dec 2018) 1 Fiscal YTD (Oct 17-Sept 2018) 185,194.
(87.5% new visitors; Events in Pearland, Where to Shop, Art&Crafts on the Pavilion and home page are the
top sources of traffic for the quarter.)
• Advertising-Art Show: Chron.com-Results: 30,958 banner impressions; 128 clicks; .41% CTR(industry average
is .08%); size of digital ads and defined targeting hugely influenced the CTR. Shop Across Texas: social media
campaign for Pearland 2019 Best Store Promotion-Results:Facebook and Instagram garnered 26,404
impressions,reached 20,707 people and was viewed a total of 6,443 times.
• Sales Inquiries—Quarterly room night pick-ups—261 pickup rooms, 5 groups; Consumer Inquiries— 1,200;
• Sales Pipeline Report—working on potential new softball event with Cindy Cowart; promoting leisure travel
via Temple Tour, pre/post cruise stay options.
• MeetingMax—TAAF on track to pick up 30 rooms via MMX; Haynie Spirit Tournament on track to pick up 50
rooms;working with organizer for 2019 Adidas John Turner Classic volleyball tournament.
• Birding—Developing birding program in addition to amplifying presence at consumer tradeshows via
partnerships with Texas Birding and Houston and Beyond.
