ADVISORY BOARD MEETING - MINUTES
Wednesday, July 12, 2017 - 6:00 p.m. at CVB
CALL TO ORDER & CVB ADVISORY BOARD MEMBER ROLL CALL.
Meeting commenced at 6:05 PM. In Attendance: Gary Shepherd (Chair), Manny Patel (Vice Chair),
Steve Saboe (Sec) by phone, Alpesh Shukla, Margo Green, Teir Allender, Kim Sinistore - Executive
Director and Tracy Rohrbacher — Marketing Manager.
Absent: excused - Lonzie Helms, Keith Ordeneaux, Tomika Gamble and Jon Branson
II. DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING April 19, 2017 BOARD MEETING MINUTES.
Reviewed minutes from prior meeting, all approved.
III. DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING FUTURE CVB BUSINESS.
Inquiry about package /liquor stores and how that related to bars/restaurants; clarification was given.
IV. PUBLIC COMMENTS — None

Executive Director's Report...
• Special Projects&Updates:
-On 7/10 the City Council approved the CVB Advisory Board membership criteria,as per Board approval from April
meeting.
-Pop'n Summer Fun, getaway packages—Promotion ongoing through Labor Day.
-TAAF, TX Amateur Athletic Federation — 15 sports confirmed and LOC's signed. Main focus now is sponsorship, marketing
and website development;six months til event.
-Meeting Max Housing Reservation System—Training to begin for CVB and Hotels.
-Pear-Scapeproject—Installation completed;waiting on plaques.
-Railroad Depot—Requested city engineering guidance towards restoration and renovation.
-Events&sponsorships—Working with Ifest,Wine fest and KANZI Fest on sponsorships for upcoming event.
-Upcoming 2017 Board Meetings—Tuesday,October 11, please note change of night for October meeting.
• Marketing:
Website page views—Quarterly—50,531 1 Fiscal YTD—158,402 1 FB fans/likes—4072
-Website—Increase to 82.3%capture rate of new visitors;top pages for the last quarter include Events in Pearland,
Where to Eat in Pearland,What to do in Pearland, Nacho Nachos Opening,Where to Shop in Pearland, Pear-Scape
60%visiting from mobile devices; 67%audience skews to females ages 35-44;top sources of traffic are organic(62%),
pay per click(13%), FB(11%). Overhauled Sports,Weddings,Venues, Pear-Scape web pages. Summer promotion is live.
Cultural Arts online application update. Upcoming edits to Main navigation and rework of Play drop down website pages.
-Advertising—Spring and summer placement includes;Texas Monthly, HOU/DAL/AUS Business Journals, Sports Events
magazine, Expedia, Reunions Magazine, Houston& Beyond co-ops.
-Media Coverage—included Pear-Scape,
Pear-Scape-Pear-Scape media coverage included pick up by ABC 13 for web story(generating 1079 shares); Pearland
Reporter News print and several online pieces including Pearland.com (100 shares and 387 likes), Newcomer Guide.
Social media metrics are below. We received media inquiries from KHOU 11 and Texas Highways magazine regarding Pear-
Scape. VisitPearland Facebook Page:A total of 7 posts from 6/2—27 reached a total of 26,536 people, a total of 63 shares
and a total of 381 likes.
• Sales Development:
-Leads& Inquiries—Quarterly room night pick-ups—1572 1 Consumer Inquiries—3543
-FY2017 room pick up total from 10/1/16—7/31/17 is 2645 in 11 market segments.
-Upcoming tournaments/events—Shadow Creek Triathlon, CONCACAF Gold cup at BBVA Compass stadium, USA Swimming
gulf championships, BJ Blanket Bingo Bash,Amateur Golf tournament at Golf Crest, Texas Volleyball Invitational, Fusion of
the Arts, Dionisio Wine& Food Festival, Medical World Americas conference at GRB, Texas ASA Challenge at El Franco Park,
Pearland Art& Crafts show and King's Oktoberfest.
-Other—Meeting Max Update—Beginning to schedule training for hotels
Business Outreach:Working with group tour bus operator through Travel Alliance Partners for 2018 business.
Product Development:Working on self-guided tour of Sri Meenakshi Temple
