CALL MEETING TO ORDER — • Meeting was called Order by Rushi Patel, Chair at 6:35pm. II. CONVENTION & VISITORS BUREAU (CVB) ADVISORY BOARD MEMBER ROLL CALL • Attendance sheet signed by those in attendance. In attendance included: Rushi Patel, Manny Patel, Gary Shepherd, Lonzie Helms, Teir Allender, Steve Saboe, Daniel Combs, Jon Branson and Kim Sinistore. Excused was Keith Ordeneaux. III. DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING JULY BOARD MEETING • Board Appointments and 2014 budget mentioned from prior meeting but no discussion. IV. PUBLIC COMMENTS • No one present to hear. V. DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING FUTURE CVB BUSINESS • Set future meeting dates — Kim Sinistore to choose next quarterly meeting dates in mid -Jan and March. VI. STAFF REPORT FROM THE CONVENTION & VISITORS BUREAU EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR • 2014 CVB Budget — approved ($571,112.00) • Office move — October 9-10 • Office Ribbon cutting & Open House — Wed, Oct 23 — 9am • Event Venue Guide & Rack Card printed • Video — near completion • Marketing Manager hired — Tracy Rohrbacher • Map — distribution to date.... 10,375 includes TX travel centers, TX State Fair, AARP show, and all hotels/RV Park. • Advertising — TX Medical Center co-op for Oct, TX State TG, Small Market Meetings, Group Travel Leader • Tradeshows — Attended Going on Faith; upcoming are Small Market Meetings, Rejuvenate and Teams • PR — U S Army placement in The Griffon • Steve Saboe and I are assisting Arts Alliance with website, cost $1480.00 • Sponsored International Festival, cost $2000.00 • Assisting Crawfish Festival group with securing location at Shadow Creek Ranch for 2014. • Arts Grant program (adopted by City Council) to be overseen by CVB - $15,000.00 total, with a max of $5000 to be given out per applicant. • Website - redesign to begin this month working with Bluephoric Creative Solutions • Leads — OTC looking for more hotels to sign group sales contracts with. Assisted Memorial Methodist with finding location for breakfast. Volleyball tournament- booked 145+ rooms, nearly 80 teams. Church group in July booked 150 rooms. Reunion and wedding held in July and August, booking over 31 rooms VII. NEW BUSINESS/ANNOUNCEMENT — Daniel Combs mentioned Alvin ISD Bond vote and discussed school expansion. Ideas mentioned about Rodeo and Agriculture component with High School. Discussion mentioned about placing Sponsorships on next agenda and board asked Executive Director to email sponsorship guidelines. VIII. ADJOURNMENT — approximately at 7:40pm.
