1962-04-05 CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING MINUTES167 MINUTES OF THE PEARLAND CITY COUNCIL MEETING HELD APRIL 5, 1962 --------------------------------------------------------- A regular meeting of the Pearland City Council was called to order by Mayor Gibbons in the City Hall at 7:30 P. M. with the following city officials and guests in attendance: Mayor - E. T. Gibbons Aldermen - W. E. Parker, Tom Alexander, David L. Smith, Victor A. Nolen Attorney - Jack Harrison Policemen - Fire Chief - Buddy Ellis Guests - Leigh A Blummer, Hu Raney, E. A. Gregurek Sr. B. Rose, H. Fletcher Brown, J. R. Herridge, Charles J. Richards and Gene Sanders. The minutes of March 15, 1962 were read corrected and approved. Mayor Gibbons requested reports from the garbage commit- tee. Mr. Alexander reported that the county was preparing the road into the garbage site and digging the pits. Fences will be installed around the dump site. Mr. Alexander explained that further meetings will be required to resolve the dump care -taker problem and garbage charges. Mr. David L. Smith explained that contact has been made with the owner of the property immediately north of the garbage dump and inquired as to whether they would It like to dispose of the property. The Treasurer reported $5,995.30 on deposit as of April 5, 1962. Mr. Gregurek was introduced to the council and he discussed a proposed hog farm to be located in the city limits of Pearland on the Livesay place. Mr. Gregurek stated that he did not plan to slaughter on the premises but does plan to process sausage. Mr. Gregurek was advised that the city has no ordinances prohibiting the raising of livestock within the city of Pearland providing the facilities meet with the approval of the city health officer. Mr. Herridge discussed the various sub -divisions under construction in the city of Pearland and asked that the city consider revising their road policy to permit shell roads where acreage is sold rather than black top streets. The second section of Regency Park Subdivision was discussed and the proposed paving of feeder streets. It was agreed that all parties concerned should provide easements and work out the restrictions and street details to enable work to proceed with the subdivision. A motion was made by Mr. W. E. Parker and seconded by Mr. Tom Alexander that Ordinance No. 50 canvassing election returns for the annual election of city officials held April, 3, 1962 be adopted. All Aldermen voted "Aye" with no "Noes." Mayor Gibbons discussed a forth -coming city planning commission meeting to be held in Houston at the Rice Hotel April 1, 1962. A motion was made jDv Mr. V. A. Nolen and seconded by Mr. W. E. Parker that the attached list of bills be paid. All Aldermen voted "Aye" with no "Noes." With no further business to attend the meeting adjourned at 11:15 P. M.
