ORDINANCE NO. 671
AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING THE AMOUNT OF FORTY-NINE
THOUSAND NINE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY EIGHT ($49,988.00)
DOLLARS FROM THE ENCUMBERED BALANCE OF THE FISCAL YEAR
1991-92 COUNCIL CONTINGENCY OF THE GENERAL FUND FOR THE
PURPOSE OF WIDENING WALNUT STREET BETWEEN MAIN AND
WASHINGTON STREETS, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AS
THESE APPROPRIATIONS ARE NECESSARY TO PROTECT THE
PUBLIC HEALTH, SAFETY AND WELFARE, AND ARE NOT FOR
REGULAR OR RECURRING REQUIREMENTS.
WHEREAS, Forty -Nine Thousand Nine Hundred and Eighty Eight ($49,988.00) Dollars from the
Council Contingency has been carried over in the 1993-94 fiscal year budget; and,
WHEREAS, the appropriation of these monies is immediately necessary for the purpose of street
widening unforeseen at the passage of the annual budget; now, therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS:
Section 1. That there is hereby appropriated the total sum of Forty -Nine Thousand Nine Hundred
and Eighty Eight ($49,988.00) Dollars from the encumbered balance of Fiscal Year 1991-92,
Council Contingency for the purpose of widening Walnut Street between Main and Washington
Streets, which was unforeseen at the passage of the annual budget.
Section 2. The City Council finds and determines that the appropriation of these monies constitute
an emergency appropriation necessary to meet a pressing need for public expenditure and not for
regular or recurring requirements, and further are necessary to protect the health, safety and welfare
by providing relief for traffic congestion caused by the construction on F.M. 518. The Council
further finds and determines that the purpose of these expenditures was unforeseen at the time of
the appropriations for the annual budget.
Section 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized to draw against the balance hereby appropriated
for the purposes of street widening.
