DECLARING RESULTS OF BOND ELECTION

The City Council of the City of Pearland, Texas, convened
in--session at the City Hall within said City on the

when the following business was transacted:
The Mayor introduced a resolution which was read in full.
Alderman~~~ made a motion that the resolution be
adopted as read. Alderman ~ seconded the motion for
adoption of the resolution. The motion carrying with it the adoption
of the resolution, prevailed by the following vote:
AYES: Aldermen Shukanes, Sanders, K
and Nolen, and Mayor Gibbons.
NOES: None.
The Mayor thereupon announced that the motion had duly and
lawfully carried, and that the resolution had been duly and lawfully
adopted. The resolution thus adopted follows:
RESOLUTION CANVASSING RETURNS, AND
DECLARING RESULTS OF BOND ELECTION
WHEREAS, on the 18th day of June, 1964, the City Council
of the City of Pearland, Texas, adopted a resolution calling a special
election to be held in said City on the llth day of July, 1964, for
the purpose of submitting to the duly qualified resident electors
of said City who owned taxable property within said City and who
had duly rendered the same for taxation, for their action thereupon,
the following propositions, to-wit:
PROPOSITION NOo ONE
SHALL THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, BE
AUTHORIZED TO ISSUE THE TAX BONDS OF SAID CITY IN THE AMOUNT
OF $1,000,000, MATURING SERIALLY WITHIN FORTY (40) YEARS
FROM THEIR DATE OR DATES, AND BEARING INTEREST AT A RATE OR
RATES NOT TO EXCEED FIV~ (5%) PER CENT PER ANNUM, FOR THE PUR-
POSE OF CONSTRUCTING PERMANENT IMPROVEMENTS, ENLARGEMENTS,
AND EXTENSIONS TO THE SANITARY SEWER SYSTEM OF SAID CITY,
AND TO LEVY AN ANNUAL TAX ON ALL TAXABLE PROPERTY WITHIN SAID
CITY SUFFICIENT TO PAY THE INTEREST ON SAID BONDS AS IT ACCRUES
AND TO CREATE AND PROVIDE A SINKING FUND TO PAY THE PRINCIPAL
OF SAID BONDS AS IT MATURES?
PROPOSITION NO. TWO
SHALL THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, BE
AUTHORIZED TO ISSUE THE TAX BONDS OF SAID CITY IN THE AMOUNT
OF $500,000, MATURING SERIALLY WITHIN FORTY (40) YEARS FROM
THEIR DATE OR DATES, AND BEARING INTEREST AT A RATE OR RATES
NOT TO EXCEED FIVE (5%) PER CENT PER ANNUM, FOR THE PURPOSE
OF CONSTRUCTING PERMANENT IMPROVEMENTS, ENLARGEMENTS, AND
EXTENSIONS TO THE WATERWORKS SYSTEM OF SAID CITY, AND TO
LEVY AN ANNUAL TAX ON ALL TAXABLE PROPERTY WITHIN SAID CITY
SUFFICIENT TO PAY THE INTEREST ON SAID BONDS AS IT ACCRUES
AND TO CREATE AND PROVIDE A SINKING FUND TO PAY THE PRINCIPAL

as shown in the official election returns heretofore submitted to said
City Council and filed with the City Secretary of said City; and
WHEREAS, said election was called and notice thereof was
given and said election was held under and in strict conformity with
law; therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND:
Section 1.
That the bond election held in and throughout the City of
Pearland, Texas, on the llth day of July, 1964, which election is
more particularly described in the preamble to this resolution, was
duly called and notice thereof given in accordance with law; that
said election was held in the manner required by law; that only duly
qualified resident electors of said City who owned taxable property
within said City and who had duly rendered the same for taxation
voted at said election; that said election has resulted favorably to
the issuance of the bonds described in each of said propositions; and
that more than a majority of the qualified voters voting at said
election have voted in favor of the issuance of the bonds described
in each of.said propositions.
Section 2.
That the City Council is now authorized to issue all of
said bonds described in each of said propositions and to do any and
all things necessar~and convenient in connection therewith.
Section 3.
That this resolution shall be in full force and effect
upon and after its adoption.
